I told mum I had thought up a new way to feed some of the ewes. She told me it wouldn’t work, at 7.30 this morning it turns out she was right ... South Shropshire life.
I go about my business and it occurs to me, I haven’t seen little spoon so I check in and it never disappoints - he’s always at large being worried by life, his wonderful life. He’s the best ❤️
Is it odd that I only check Twitter to see what little spoon is up to? When you see how unique he is, his little ways, I suspect you’ll understand! He’s wonderful ❤️🏰
The subject of the portrait behind you is unknown, little Spoon; still, you look as if you've left a small space next to you, as if to invite company; perhaps you know things about this house that I don't, little Spoon, because you can hear and see things that I can't or won't; I will leave you to your reveries, enigmatic but much-loved little Spoon

My little cat Spoon had to go to the vet this morning for one of his now-monthly immunotherapy injections. He's glad to be back home now. Well done, little Spoon! (In case anyone wonders, the portrait in the background is by Stanley Badmin and apparently depicts a London publican.)

Good afternoon, Little Spoon; I'm sorry to have roused you from your nap; I was just admiring the way in which you had aligned your markings with the pattern of the cushion; obviously you do not welcome having the formal qualities of your napping arrangement admired in this way; please return to your nap, adorably grumpy little Spoon
Spoon I have come back here solely to check on your little adventures … you have our hearts xxx

Little Spoon, you are disaffected; it is true that we are on a train, little Spoon, conveying you to London for your immunotherapy tomorrow; this is not your favourite way to spend a morning, little Spoon, nor is it mine; hopefully this will be beneficial for you anyway, cross little lovely Spoon
Oh little spoon, we’ve been watching out for you and to check how you’re getting on ❤️

Little Spoon, I am sorry that you and I are currently on a rail replacement bus to Stowmarket; your immunotherapy programme takes us on some very strange journeys, little Spoon; you look rather affronted, which I understand, but hopefully this will all be worth it in the end

Replying to @MercerCait
Lol!! I'm definitely showing this to the cats ... when they wake up
I came looking for him and here he is! I knew he’d be Easter ready! Oh little spoon, if you knew how often I checked for photos of you you’d be unnerved ❤️😂

Little Spoon, you have not featured very prominently here in recent days as you have no obvious relevance to Easter; still, little Spoon, you do look rather sweet, sitting there on the stairs, staring thoughtfully at me; happy Easter to you, too, my reflective little Spoon – at Blakeney, England

Bridget the little cat is not the only one enjoying a bit of sun worship today

Don't tell anyone, but I think my cats might be hatching a Jacobite plot – at Blakeney, England
Oh little Spoon, but you look so handsome. I didn’t realise it was possible for him to get even cuter and then we saw him in his baby-gro! Get well soon darling boy ❤️❤️❤️
Poor little Spoon, you are still over-grooming due to your dust mite allergy; you have a bare little patch under your foreleg and I have to prevent that becoming worse; as a result, I am sorry that you have to wear this baby-gro type outfit; I am further sorry that for reasons of perspective your tail looks weirdly huge in this photo; you are not having much of a day, are you, much-loved little Spoon?

I do hope people appreciate the joke! For my new book (partly reflecting on a career in Classics, partly asking 'WHY study the deep past?', 'What do we get out of it?'), I chose an 'author photo' taken by my friend Di, 50+ years ago. Book details: tinyurl.com/5d3yx3bh
