It appears that Alex is going for more of a Porzingis type role.
A finesse, perimeter oriented big.
The difference is KP shot that pill, & still got on the glass.
Gotta identify what his niche will be as a big. If you’re aiming for KP, you gotta shoot it & rebound better.
My story on the advantages that Sarr's aided by amidst his continued quest to fit in within the new-look Wizards: si.com/nba/wizards/onsi/alex…
Some interesting data on the Wizards' big trio:
-Sarr's yet to be without Young when he's alone at center, same goes for Davis w/George
-Defense craters with Ayton as lone big (often played alongside second unit)
-Only other negative combo is the starting pair of Sarr + Davis
And here’s Sarr himself on playmaking variety: “We got guys who can make decisions at all positions. Whether it’s me in the short roll, Trae, Kyshawn, AJ handling the ball, getting past their guy, we got a lot of different looks out there. That’s when the chemistry comes in.”
A lot of material here out of Wizards HC Brian Keefe on managing the still-adjusting Alex Sarr within a spaced floor.
“His playmaking ability…with AD, playing the high-low game, playing big-to-big in the short pocket…Alex can always find shooters and kick it out.”
Here’s Sarr practicing out of the corner, five in a row to start. Despite his quiet 52.1% field goal percentage, he’s still stuck at 22% from three, and these are just the looks he’s going to keep getting as the kickout option in double-big sets.
Tre Johnson is 8/30 from 3-point range this season, and went 1/9 from the field yesterday. Here he is practicing some off-the-dribble looks
Report this dude @HenryJNBA for pretending to be me posting about LeBron, I’m still hacked and this still isn’t me
The Wizards’ starting lineup from the last time they were two games above .500, on Nov. 23, 2022 at 10-8:
Deni Avdija
Kyle Kuzma
Corey Kispert
Kristaps Porzingis
Jordan Goodwin
Wizards beat the Heat. Johnny Davis played five minutes, Taj Gibson four. History will have to wait
Brian Keefe addressed the margin being too much to overcome following yet another battle lost on the glass, referencing past strides. “Last two games, terrific rebounding, I think you saw the adjustments we made.”
Hawks ORB: 19
Dyson Daniels ORBs on his own: 7
Wizards ORB: 9
Hawks are 13/26 from behind the arc, Wizards are 3/12. It was always gonna be hard to win when they’re trading twos for threes, and this game is showing how limited the offense can be when Trae’s in jail
Trae Young is getting face-guarded by Dyson Daniels, something different is going have to happen on offense outside of missed corner threes. Will Riley’s checking in now for his standard second quarter temp check
Ayton alone isn’t saving the team on the boards, and the Hawks are gang-rebounding the Wizards to death whenever one of their many middling shooters are spotting up. Gotta at least lock in on transition if you’re surrendering that many second chance opportunities
In reviewing narratives to note entering Wizards-Hawks (link below), I was pleasantly surprised to see who's currently leading the NBA in 3P%. Coming off of the first game in which he's played more than nine minutes, an old friend may be feeling himself in his return to D.C.:
Something we haven’t seen much of before: one of the more fun, well-spaced player combos gets worse when Bub takes a seat! He’s the only member of this foursome who jumped out to a strong start from three, and his 3&D energy will keep winning him minutes
Trae Young is likely to get pulled into actions as the smallest member of the Wizards’ rotation, but this is a great peek at what everyone else can do as a united switching front on the off-chance that he’s allowed to camp on his man in the corner

AD looks like a 5 to me.
Not sure what he’s talking about with this 4 nonsense lol
