Well folks, here’s my (hopefully) big one – the culmination (but not the end!) of an area of research I’ve been pursuing for awhile! We developed a framework to unify the relationships between eDNA, numerical abundance, and biomass:

Well, first time I ever got an r^2 > 0.99!
Just wanted to give a shout out to a new paper we published - my first senior author manuscript! We collected eDNA from ponds inhabited by invasive goldfish, and conducted paired sampling with DFO folks to compare independent results.
We also caught goldfish using standardized fisheries methods and drained some of the ponds to get census counts. No surprise here from me, but we had a strong correlation between eDNA detection probability, eDNA concentration, and goldfish abundance!
Here’s the paper:

Hope folks enjoy it, was certainly an interesting project!

Well this is just a super cool paper, using eDNA to track dispersal dynamics of invasive fish species based on haplotype number:

19) Amongst single-cellular organisms, ‘b’ will equal 0 since we expect eDNA to scale with numerical abundance (each cell contains ~approximately~ the same number of gene copies).
