Prime Minister Andy Burnham announces new policy to reduce the cost of living.
His statement - "I know many households are finding it difficult to make ends meet at the moment. I live in a household too so I get it. But I absolutely refuse to accept there's nothing I can do about it.
So, from the 1st December Labour will introduce a helpful plan to save households thousands of pounds per year on their shopping bills.
Every major supermarket has signed up to this initiative and I'm proudly announcing it today.
Many shopping bills are extremely high, particularly if you have several people in your home, but in future ALL supermarket purchases will be capped at £20.00. You will not be able to spend more.
So, if you currently visit the supermarket just once per week and spend £100, you will now spend just £20.
In the example above, the household will be saving £80 per week, or £4,160 per year.
This is what helping the consumer is all about.
Real savings for real people.
You might not have quite as much food in your fridge but you'll have more money left in your purse.
