A couple of years ago, I noticed something that I believe has seriously damaged crypto.
KOLs made a deal with the devil.
Many big accounts stopped supporting or shilling projects unless they received payments or free tokens.
People were used to KOLs discovering great organic projects. But suddenly, attention went almost exclusively to whoever paid for it and organic communities started dying.
Even the best meme narratives became PvP battles. Scammers could copy a great narrative, fund massive volume, pay for trending and give tokens to big KOLs.
It became scammers and a handful of KOLs against real communities and only a few communities survived those battles, and some became massive.
Now everyone wonders why liquidity is disappearing and retail has lost trust.
I am not against KOLs, but this culture needs to change. Stop chasing launches where every big name is shilling from day one.
Look for communities that have been grinding for weeks, regardless of market cap.
The next crypto giant will not be built by paid hype from day one. It will be built by a real community first, and the big names will follow.
