1/ Introducing Flint. It’s a pretty good model for agentic coding locally. We @Recursive_SI think a lot of everyday coding will move to models running on your laptop or a server down the hall. Here’s why we built it.

We've been busy at Amplify Bio! It's a privilege to be in business with the technical founders transforming the life sciences. And, personally, it's a privilege to work alongside this team every day. If you've spent time with Sunil, David, Luke, or Madelyn, you'll know exactly what I mean. If you haven't, we've got a whole slate of programming intentionally designed for this ecosystem in the New Year, so we'll see you there!

Voice models *should* run on-device (for privacy and latency reasons); very excited by the OSS release of Phonon
A new frontier for on-device speech. We're open-sourcing Phonon, a suite of TTS models under 50m parameters, setting a new standard for naturalness and accuracy across languages, with the broadest inference support to date. Phonon-31m is available under Apache 2.0. gradium.ai/phonon🧵

Highly recommend browsing @TIME's Best Inventions of 2026 🧪🧠🤖 Especially fun to see two @AmplifyPartners portfolio companies recognized: - @_inception_ai for Mercury 2, reasoning diffusion LLM - @AntithesisHQ for stress-testing software by simulating real-world failures

We are going to make this a regular event, but until we get into a rhythm expect our first meetup to be a couple of great lightning talks and then some informal feature demos in the hallway track.
We're hosting our first technical meetup in SF on October 26. Drinks and pizza will be served, thrilling talks will be given. Join us: luma.com/0qr6bxcw

Fun fact: @adamhjk is the first founder I've backed to start 3 separate companies After inventing Chef and carrying the Infrastructure as Code banner for 15 years, no one would have blamed him for tying himself to that mast. Instead, Adam was one of the first to say: That shit won't work anymore! Swamp Club is the recognition that the future of software isn't trusting LLMs and Agents to build (and rebuild) everything, non-stop. Its actually about deterministic software and probabilistic models that natively work together. That is the Way of The Swamp Congrats to Adam, Mahir, Nick, Paul, John - and everyone else who's joined the Club
I am thrilled to tell you that Swamp Club has raised $7m in seed funding from @AmplifyPartners, Encoded Ventures, @jesserobbins, and @stolinski. Swamp is a platform for building AI systems from repeatable behaviors, rather than from token-hungry agent-centric designs. More exciting to me than the money (which I'm stoked about,) or the product itself (which continues to surprise and delight me every day,) is the incredible group of people who have started solving real, practical, everyday problems with Swamp. They teach me new and exciting things about how to build with AI every day. I'm grateful to my co-founders, who have poured every ounce of their creativity, passion, and intelligence into Swamp. I'm grateful to our users and customers (big and small) - there is no greater gift you can give to an entrepreneur than the validation that comes with voting with your wallets. And I'm grateful to our investors, who see the opportunity we see, and want to make it happen with us. It's such a cliche to say that there has never been a better time to build - but really, it feels like there has never been a better time to build. Come join the Club. swamp-club.com/press/swamp-u…

I've sent a version of this to 10+ founders this month alone. Just because you can use AI, doesn't always mean you should "Allow me to give some unsolicited advice: Investors are drowning in AI-generated cold emails and pitch decks. It is almost an automatic "delete-without-response" for me. It doesn't convey craft, or care in what you are building and comes across as low effort. I'd humbly suggest making your materials manually to ensure they best communicate your ideas in your voice. Others might disagree, so take this as a data point."

They grow up so fast ❤️
Up until recently it was just me hacking on prototypes, but my company is starting to feel real. We are 4 people, have a real physical office, and we just closed a seed round with @AmplifyPartners – looking forward to share a bit more about what we are working on soon!

First investor. Largest shareholder. @sarahcat21 is a legend.
Today we're announcing that Modal has crossed $1B in annualized run rate, as well as raised a $750M Series D at a $15.75B valuation, led by @Accel. Since our Series C, usage has tripled and we’ve grown more than 15x year-over-year. We are deeply grateful to the developers and companies building on Modal. There's still so much more to build, and we can't think of a better time to be building software.

In early 2022, the first “real” @modal user was using us for processing large scale weather data. We were anxious about going up to them and asking them to pay ~$500 for continuing to run these jobs. (We thought it was a lot!) Obviously the numbers are much bigger now. But we’ve also built so much more since then, and our velocity and ambition are growing even faster. This year, we figured out how to scale to millions of concurrent sandboxes, launch RDMA clusters securely and elastically for distributed training, train state of the art speculators for inference, build a whole new sandbox runtime, and more. So many great rabbit holes, and we’re going deeper down all of them. If this sounds interesting to you, we’re hiring! modal.jobs

It’s effing amazing to see a company go from an idea (better tools for data/AI practitioners) to a $1B run rate business (infra for AI). Proud to be their first investor. And don’t bother me about secondaries. I won’t sell a single share for less than $100B (prob more)

The biggest hiring mistake at seed stage: hiring for where you think you’ll be in five years instead of where you are today. A great engineer is only great if they’re the right engineer for your current stage. amplifypartners.com/blog-pos…
