My email to @Dave_Eby and @KahlonRav on short-term rentals below My simple solution: ◾️Ban short-term rentals for a defined period ◾️Increase minimum fines to $25,000 per offence ◾️Hold hosts and platforms accountable I encourage others to email them to express your views too

The late Earth System’s scientist, Professor Will Steffen advised that getting GHG emissions down fast has to be “the primary target of policy and economics” akin to a “wartime footing”. (7/11) climatecodered.org/2023/02/w…

After 27 years of UN climate talks, Big Oil finally succeeded in completing its hijacking of the annual meeting of 198 countries to act on climate @UNFCCC should be going nuts about it and acting (fat chance, probably) Top 10 reasons why the hijacking is complete: 🧵 #COP28

These are real scientists protesting. There's almost no one in the media speaking up passionately about this - apart from those you'd expect - so I cant see how we have any hope of saving ourselves. Most people are choosing the collapse pathway through apathy. It is what it is.

According to the IEA, no new oil and gas projects can be approved if we want to limit warming to less than 1.5C. But countries around the world are still approving hundreds of projects.

Got a letter in the Vancouver Sun. "What is the point having a provincial climate plan with an ambitious VKT reduction target if municipalities and the media just pretend it does not exist?" vancouversun.com/opinion/let… #bcpoli #cleanbc #vanpoli

It's time to stop kidding ourselves that the people in charge are protecting the environment, ecology and the social contract. When they make decisions like this in light of the current scientific evidence - who are they deciding policy for? theguardian.com/us-news/2023…

Porto is one of my favorite cities. I'm figuring out how to meaningfully help the #ClimateCrisis Hope others will do so too!
Porto, Portugal. The worlds climate is destabilising. Scientists are screaming at us that it threatens our ability to grow enough food and we may permanently collapse human civilisation. Please RT, educate your friends and family and demand action youtu.be/EOctIuyVfnA

"Why should they save money while other low paid workers have to go in the office?" Reads to me as putting ppl in same boat. When I read your thread it comes across as everyone should be back in office bc not everyone can.

I think where we are different POV is I see WFH as a "benefit". Just how some ppl get DB pension vs others get DC pension. Just how someone would be mad if their DB pension went to DC suddenly; if WFH is in the contract then it should be upheld

An incomplete 🧵 on extreme weather events in 2022. Reminder: This is at 1.2C heating. We are on track for 1.5C by 2030, 2C by 2050, over 3C by 2100, and 10C long-term. Oh yeah - and 96% of oil and gas companies are EXPANDING operations.

Climate and nature collapse is terrifying. Anyone who has ever been caught up in a flood or wildfire will tell you. That’s why almost everyone agrees that we need action on climate… but it just isn’t happening. Which is why young people are resorting to pretty desperate measures

Of the 33 million people people displaced due to the floods in Pakistan, many are living In shanty towns, their only belongings; sacks of clothes. They are being forced to survive on 2-3 cups of tea a day. It's so painful to know that it hasn't even been a week & the world forgot

Everyone in the global North is also crying today because at least 33 million people in Pakistan remain displaced by monsoon flooding related to anthropogenic climate change, right? Right?

No one will ever convince me that Clark, Coleman and the gang did not financially benefit off their many real estate deals in this time of money laundering. How Cullen was able to reach this conclusion is bizarre. #CorruptionBC #MoneyLaunderingBC
