Never get too sad or too cocky! These 2 pictures show Napoleon at his lowest point in prison (1794) and his highest point as Emperor (1804). Things change. #staypositive

Good article on Napoleon’s work ethic - many thanks to Brad Corbin for sending this to me - “Napoleon would dictate letter after letter to his secretaries, often on a variety of subjects, without needing to stop for a moment and think. To show this, during the first three months of 1807, Napoleon sent 1,715 letters, an average of 19 letters per day.” medium.com/@Chaosers/what-ma…

I asked ChatGPT how Napoleon could've won the Battle of Waterloo -- thoughts on the below??
A. Contain Hougoumont instead of attacking it relentlessly
Napoleon's original diversion against Hougoumont became a prolonged struggle that consumed French troops. I'd leave enough infantry to contain the position but direct the bulk of the available force toward the main objective.
B. Make La Haye Sainte the priority earlier
The farm sat in front of Wellington's centre. French troops eventually captured it at around 6 p.m., but by then the battle had been raging for hours. I'd concentrate artillery and coordinated infantry attacks against this position earlier, aiming to open the way toward Wellington's centre.
C. Coordinate the infantry, artillery and cavalry
Rather than sending large cavalry formations repeatedly against formed Allied infantry squares, I'd reserve cavalry for exploitation after infantry and artillery have disrupted the Allied line. French cavalry charges historically inflicted casualties but failed to break the squares decisively.
D. Preserve the Imperial Guard until the situation is clear
Napoleon committed the Guard in the evening, and its repulse helped trigger the French collapse. I'd keep it in reserve until either Wellington's centre was genuinely vulnerable or the Guard was needed to stabilize the army against the Prussians.

Adding a new intro to our upcoming episodes. Our early episodes had a military-drum intro and we needed something epic to buffer the commercials that play at the beginning. #music #buffering #commercials #generalsandnapoleon
Sounds like an interesting book. Although many generals of the US Civil War studied Napoleon’s campaigns, none could come close to the Emperor’s results.
But again, I could study Mozart or Beethoven for the next 20 years but that doesn’t mean I could play music 🎶 like they did.
#MasterpieceMonday: THE EMPEROR'S FINAL STRUGGLE 🇫🇷🦅
⚔️ 1814, Campagne de France (1864)
🖌️ Artist: Ernest Meissonier
Not every masterpiece captures a moment of triumph.
In this haunting painting, Napoleon rides his famous white horse through the muddy French countryside, surrounded by exhausted officers and soldiers during the desperate campaign of 1814.
🇫🇷 The Grande Armée that once conquered much of Europe was now fighting to defend France itself.
Meissonier's remarkable attention to historical detail brings the scene to life. The gray skies, muddy roads, and weary expressions convey the exhaustion of an army nearing the end of its extraordinary journey.
Yet Napoleon remains resolute, riding forward despite the seemingly impossible odds. In the background following the Emperor, you can see Marshal Ney and Marshal Berthier.
💭 What do you see in this painting: a defeated emperor or a leader refusing to surrender?
