I still find it mad that school never taught us about mortgages, credit scores, taxes, savings or how politics affects our everyday lives. Nothing about budgeting, paying rent, understanding interest or avoiding debt when you finally become an adult.
Instead, we spent hours learning cursive handwriting, algebra we'll probably never use again, the parts of a leaf, Venn diagrams and how to set magnesium on fire with a Bunsen burner.
School taught us how to pass exams but somehow forgot to teach us how to actually survive in the real world.

Why are governments all over the planet suddenly encouraging their citizens to become preppers?

I find it absolutely incomprehensible that we’re earmarking £10 billion for Ukraine while Britain is being lumbered with a government spending crisis. It’s pathological altruism, suicidal empathy - call it what you want. Labour’s metropolitan elite will indulge their own moral posturing while showing utter contempt for the wellbeing of their own country.

Personally I think if you work full time, no matter the job, you should be able to pay your bills, rent/mortgage, food and fuel and still have a bit left over to enjoy life. Otherwise, what's the fucking point???
We're not here to "just get by". That's no life.

Day 10: 12 Days of Radar.
The landscape surrounding RAF Bawdsey is etched with the remains of sixty years of air defence, helping to keep the skies and land of Britain safe from enemy attack. This photo is of the Bloodhound Missile site, part of Britain's #ColdWar defences.

ALT An aerial photo (taken in 2005) of the Bloodhound Missile site near Bawdsey in Suffolk where Bloodhound missiles were operational 1978-1990 as part of Britain's Cold War defences. The North Sea is to the top left of the photo, then a narrow strip of beach to the right. The land is mostly grassed. There are concrete pads that look like leaves on a plant stem on the site. The 1983 MOD assessment of likely UK targets for Soviet air attack in wartime by different aircraft types.
An extensive network of radar, RN ships, Bloodhound & Rapier SAMS and RAF interceptors were expected to cause 20-50% losses - but only had 3 days supply of missiles.

Guys, what is going down with the emergency stockpiling in the #UK and abroad alongside 3 Vanguard class Submarines deployed with Nuclear Warheads according to media outlets tonight?
2026 going out with a bang? 💥

In a rare move not seen in more than five years, 75 percent of the UK nuclear deterrent fleet is deployed at the same time.
The silent service is moving deep underwater.
Three out of four Vanguard-class ballistic missile submarines are at sea right now.
At least one is fully armed with Trident nuclear warheads on active combat patrol.
The other two are running intensive sea trials and returning to the operational line.
The Royal Navy rarely manages to put this much firepower in the water at once.
Experts call it an operational turnaround.
The timing is impossible to ignore.
As civil defense warnings sweep Europe and world tensions boil, Britain's nuclear arsenal is fully awake.
