Stop. Branagh’s version is the way this speech was meant to be delivered. Not even debatable.
Probably my favourite version. It's much less bombastic than Olivier's or Branagh's. #StCrispinsDay

This is what they just burnt down in France. To reduce something this beautiful to ash that survived both world wars invokes a different type of anger. Cold and observant.

Before writing a job description, answer this: What must this person achieve in the first year? If the hiring panel gives three different answers, the first meeting you need is with the panel.

"What is the positive case for retaining such an undistinguished figure in the executive position of what some advocates never tire of insisting is a world-class city?"
With Toronto's municipal elections coming to a head tomorrow, I wrote about what I take to the central question: why can't Olivia Chow's supporters make a positive case for her mayoralty? thestar.com/opinion/contribu…

Jordan Belfort finally explained what “Sell me this pen” really tests, and most salespeople fail it in 1 sentence. The moment they hear the line, they start pitching. The pen is great, it writes upside down, it’s the best value for the money. To Belfort, that’s the clearest sign someone doesn’t understand selling. The right answer doesn’t mention the pen at all, at least not at first. A fan in the audience asks Belfort to sell the pen. He jokes that no one has ever asked him that before, then explains what the test is really for: before you pitch anything, you ask questions. How long have you been in the market for a pen? What have you used before? Is it for business or personal? How much do you usually spend? Pitching without asking, Belfort says, tells the buyer you don’t give a shit about them. You’re just ramming the product down their throat. The questions also tell Belfort who to walk away from. If someone says they’re not looking for a pen, he says “Great, have a nice day” and moves on. To him, the biggest rookie mistake is trying to sell to everybody. Only then does Belfort pitch: “Based on what you said to me, this pen is perfect. Let me tell you why.” And the pen, he says, is just a stand-in for any product. Rookies sell the pen. Pros sell what you just told them. Be honest: would you have pitched the pen, or asked the first question?

Sales is like chess. The prospect only has a few predictable moves so you can prepare responses & take control of the conversation.
There are only 3 real objections in sales. 1. They’re not the decision maker 2. They don’t have the budget 3. They don’t believe it will work Everything else is just disguise. - “I need to think about it.” - “Send me more details.” - “Let me get back to you.” All polite exits. All ways of delaying a real decision without saying no directly. The mistake most people make is trying to handle these surface objections. Top performers don’t. They remove the hiding places. They bring the real objections into the open themselves: “I usually find there are only a few reasons someone wouldn’t move forward here, mind if I run them by you?” Now the conversation shifts. Because instead of dodging, the buyer has to engage with reality. This is where most people misunderstand sales. They think it’s improvisation. It’s not. It’s structured prediction. Like chess. Not reacting move-by-move, but recognizing the finite set of moves available in the first place. Once you understand the real objections, nothing the prospect says is random anymore. It’s just variation on a known pattern. And when you can see the pattern clearly… You stop chasing the conversation. You start guiding it. And clarity, more than anything, is what makes decisions inevitable.

Richard Morgan started rowing at age 73. By 92, he was a 4-time world champion. Researchers studied his body and found that: - his oxygen-uptake response speed was comparable to healthy young adults - he had a max heart rate of 153, whereas for his age it's usually 128 Here's his routine: - ~40 minutes of rowing daily, mostly at low intensity - Resistance training 2–3 times a week Here’s his diet: - Protein: ~112 g/day; carbs: ~225 g/day; calories ~1,600/day - Breakfast: Porridge - Lunch: Salad with sliced ham and a scone - After training: A protein shake - Dinner: Chicken curry, or pork chops with potatoes and vegetables An exceptional person, but it highlights that even starting in your 70s can get you very far. Sleep Potion #9. youtu.be/h8KDknyNzsw
One of my clients started drinking my 2-minute sleep tea before bed. Her sleep score jumped from the low 80s into the 90s, and she stopped waking up to go pee. Takes 2 minutes to make and has 3 ingredients: - Bag of chamomile tea - 5 to 10g of glycine - Quarter teaspoon of sea salt or electrolytes Drink it 2 hours before bed and you might have the best sleep of your life.

Pharma ran this exact play in the 2000s. The NYT wrote about drug companies recruiting college cheerleaders as sales reps. When products are hard to tell apart, sellers compete on attention. It says more about AI product differentiation than about the women, or even the economy.

Sauna is my number one longevity intervention after exercise and diet. A lot of what happens in the sauna overlaps with what happens during exercise, and sauna can even add to the benefits you’re already getting from exercise, including bigger gains in aerobic fitness and reductions in blood pressure. Then there’s the long-term data - using the sauna 4 to 7 times weekly is associated with a 40% lower risk of all-cause mortality, a 50% lower risk of cardiovascular-related death, and up to a 66% lower risk of dementia and Alzheimer's disease. Combined evidence from the physiology, exercise trials, and long-term data is a big part of why I take deliberate heat exposure seriously (and why you should too).
