During today’s BPW meeting, Comptroller Lierman challenged the use of Program Open Space for funding artificial turf fields, noting that the program mandate is to conserve natural resources - the antithesis of turf. Not only do artificial turf fields emit greenhouse gases, but as temperatures rise, they will become even more unsafe and unusable- a study from Brigham Young University found that the surface temperature of synthetic turf was 37° F higher than asphalt and 86.5° F hotter than natural turf.
Achieving best value means ensuring our dollars are spent to build a more climate resilient state. The Comptroller looks forward to collaborating with the Department of Natural Resources and local governments to fund the construction of green and climate resilient infrastructure.

ALT "Converting green space to plastic and rubber-filled fields is the antithesis of conserving natural resources. Perhaps even more importantly, it is time for all of our state programs to embrace the statutory mandate from the Climate Solutions Now Act, which requires the state to develop plans, adopt regulations, and implement programs that reduce statewide greenhouse gas emissions."

Every veteran deserves a good, safe home in this country they fought to defend.
MAGA Republicans in Congress are proposing we eliminate funding for Housing Choice Vouchers for as many as 50,000 veterans, putting them at greater risk of homelessness.

The 1st Amendment was first for many articulable reasons.
Without freedom of speech and assembly the other amendments are mooted.
Currently I fear governments taking away my books as they undermine the 1st Amendment.
"They" aren't coming for your guns.
"They" are coming for our words.
