On #Dec6 1989, fourteen bright young women were murdered because they were #women. A world free of #GenderBasedViolence requires everyone to educate themselves and speak up. Women deserve to thrive everywhere, including in #science and #engineering. #16Days #Dec6

ALT The Memorial plaque outside of the École Polytechnique commemorating the names of the women who were killed. Inscribed on it: in memoriam Geneviève Bergeron Hélène Colgan Nathalie Croteau Barbara Daigneault Anne-Marie Edward Maud Haviernick Maryse Laganière Maryse Leclair Anne-Marie Lemay Sonia Pelletier Michèle Richard Annie St-Arneault Annie Turcotte Barbara Klucznik-Widajewicz 6 décembre 1989

#FactFriday Did you know that graduate students holding a Tricouncil award like #NSERC and #SSHRC can't afford to live in a 1-bedroom apartment in the city they study in. How can we expect researchers to make advances in Science when they can't make rent? 😱 #SupportOurScience

You have got to be kidding. The definition of “major crimes” is in fact MAJOR crimes like murders, rapes, armed robberies not spray paint. No wonder there are so many missing Indigenous women. @wpgpolice only cares about thin blue line? #thinblueline #copgames #cdnpoli #mmiwg
More than 65 phrases including profanity and acronyms used by police abolitionist groups were spray painted along the WPFG Half Marathon route. It is believed the graffiti occurred overnight. Major Crimes is investigating.

Many graduate students, including me, had to work on top of being full-time grad students just to be able to pay rent and afford food.
Maybe some researchers have money, but it does not trickle down to the grad students who make most of the work possible.
“Researchers always have their hands out for more money, but either forget to say thank you, or say that sort-of half-hearted thank you, like, ‘We asked for more, but I guess we'll say yes to this.’”– @jetkerr

I was today year's old when I finally took a stand against a senior white male colleague who made unwanted sexual advances toward me and has been intermittently bullying me since I firmly turned him down. This has been a great source of stress-and I'm a fully tenured senior...

Question sincère : en pleine crise du logement, quel problème le gouvernement espère régler en rendant la cession de bail caduque, hormis répondre aux attentes des propriétaires ?
