Dream come true: Pennsylvania School Librarians Assoc named me the 2025 Outstanding Pennsylvania Author.
Huge thanks to @PSLA_News, my publishers, esp @wbny who turned my Q&A owl book into a series for @ReycraftBooks, and my critique partners who make me a better writer!
Knowledge is power! Learn about spiders instead of squishing them!
If you find a creepy crawly in your house—save it and then learn about it! @AnnetteWhipple’s fun and informative book, ‘Scurry! The Truth About Spiders,’ teaches about some of these unique and wonderful creatures.

Pairing an activity with a book (fiction or nonfiction) always helps kids remember it why they loved the book more. I highly recommend Tricky Chopsticks and @SylviaiChen! If you can't meet her, create your own tricky chopsticks game!
✨🥢📚🥳 Just made this new chopsticks pom-pom tossing game for TRICKY CHOPSTICKS. Super excited to bring this book-based fun to the #1000bookfestival, plus a DIY sparkly keychain activity for SPARKLES FOR SUNNY. Want to do one or both? Come find me this Saturday in Marlboro, NY!

Does anyone know someone who wants to be Laura Ingalls for Halloween? Or Pippi? Or another girl with braids?
These fake braids are really easy to make with just a single piece of felt.

Are you a teacher?
How many nonfiction authors can you name?
Nonfiction often hooks the reluctant readers, but educators often introduce nonfiction as a tool--for research--and not for fun.

#OCDawarenessWeek starts tomorrow.
I THINK I THINK A LOT is about a girl who considers the way her mind gets stuck on worries, but ultimately finds "there's a good part." Pick up the book anywhere books are sold, or your local library.

A Story of Triumph: It took eight years and countless revisions to get Quirky Critter Devotions into the hands of readers. It almost didn’t happen. But it did. Read the story, complete with timeline, here. annettewhipple.com/2024/02/a…
I'm so grateful to the @KSLAliteracy for nominating CHOMP! THE TRUTH ABOUT SHARKS and for PA students voting it as the winner of the Keystone to Reading Award! (A bigger conference recap on FB and IG.)

A beautiful book!
Grateful. After a week without a dishwasher, I'm listening to a new one be installed.
I lived nearly 30 years without one. My mom and MIL still don't want one. But I sure do. (A family member--but usually me--washes dishes daily, too. I don't put pots/pans in typically.)
Soooo good to see you again, @stepha_henson! Thank you for the encouragement!
Starting off strong at the KSLA Conference. Annette Whipple is amazing. Her story, so inspirational! Enjoyed the presentation! @AnnetteWhipple
I'm about to help out with a community scavenger hunt! Can't wait! (Next time I want to participate!)

My 2027 calendar is available for purchase now! It features 12 close-up photographs of birds and mammals found in North America.
I'm offering two versions. One version includes major U.S. holidays. The other version does not include any holidays.

ALT The cover of the calendar. It says "North American Wildlife Portraits: 2027 Calendar. Photography by Laurel Gale" and features a close-up photo of a bobcat.

ALT The back cover of the calendar. It has a preview of the photographs for each month: a bobcat, a canyon wren, an American mink, a great horned owl, a bighorn sheep, a great blue heron, a North American river otter, a red-tailed hawk, a mule deer, a raccoon, a wild turkey, and a red-breasted sapsucker.

Spooky Season has officially begun, and we’re kicking things off with a three-headed ferret.
OK, technically it’s three black-footed ferrets, but October calls for a little imagination.
Once thought extinct, these endangered creatures are making a comeback thanks to @USFWS.
An article mentions me! Thank you @VISTAToday! Apparently my county has lots of authors because I can name a handful the article didn't mention! Chester County's Modern Literary Scene Include Best... http://vista.today/2026/09/current-…
What percentage of books are nonfiction in your library or classroom? Are you working toward 50% nonfiction? Here's why:

Love this!
After bingeing 4 episodes of Little House on the Prairie (which she fell in love with @AnnetteWhipple!), this was the #STEM activity of choice today!😍
(In blinged-out crocs, no less!)

I'm looking forward to this!
