learning is a social pursuit and always has been. And as a bonus, watching someone's face light up as they talk about the thing they're currently obsessed with is pure gold.
burrow club brings the curious + the obsessed together in a small group gathering:
→ one topic per session
→ informal, conversational, in-depth (no one-sided lectures or panels)
→ phones away as much as possible, so we actually engage
→ industry-agnostic for now, and I'm taking all the topic suggestions!

We can start by arming ourselves with information, and by co-existing with different perspectives and talking it out in a real room.
This is a pain point I feel daily, and why @burrowclub_dxb seems more relevant than ever.
the importance of context and depth cannot be stressed enough!
i'm building @burrowclub_dxb as the "social discussion" version of this: specific, narrow topics we can dive into headfirst with people who know more than us.
just like writing creates clarity of thought, dedicated in-person chats activate a dying muscle: assessing a topic critically without prompting an LLM (without a phone, this means asking the "stupid questions" before things get clearer, and that's totally ok)
The reason I write longform essays instead of short ones:
> Doing my part to bring back old internet culture
> Restoring your brainrot attention span to factory settings
> Giving you life-changing narratives that need full context
Refuse to give into the attention markets’ demands. Longform is the best form

We're about to enter a period where not reading or writing becomes as ubiquitous as smoking once was. We can hope people will eventually realize this is bad for them, as they did with smoking. But this is far from certain; the cost may not be as obvious.
