White fear. Of competition. Is a real thing. Poor Pat.

Michigan, I am the only House Democrat from our state representing a district won by President Trump. I am voting for @AbdulElSayed, and I encourage you to do the same.
The days leading up to an election are always full of distractions and noise. This cycle has been particularly bitter and hateful. Now is the time to rise above it and consider who will actually fight for you and your family. So before you cast your ballot, ask yourself: which of the candidates for Senate will,
✅End Trump’s tariffs on our allies, raising your costs and killing our jobs
✅Stop the War with Iran
✅Take on the political corruption making everything worse, and
✅Most importantly, vote with you on a generation-defining Supreme Court Justice
Then, by November 3, cast your ballot for @AbdulElSayed.

I spoke with Haley Stevens yesterday.
Feeling a bit absurd in pointing out the obvious and being far kinder than I should have been, I reminded her that the outcome of this senate race will be viewed in the light of a future Supreme Court vacancy, and I expressed a hope that all of us understand the stakes.
She assured me she's supporting Dr. El-Sayed, sent me a video of a recent speech she gave blasting Mike Rogers and said this: "Still stands. I promise."
She also said she's been sending this video to other folks to make it clear where she stands on this race.
Again: that was yesterday.
I have known Haley Stevens for years. I have counted her as a friend and an ally. We've had many thoughtful conversations about this country, and she has never failed to remind me that her mother is a fan of my writing.
Whatever other political differences we have, she has always made it clear to me she would stand with LGBTQ people. It was a red line she refused to cross.
Instead, she has made the inexplicable decision to endorse a man who views LGBTQ Americans as second-class citizens unworthy of full equality.
I can't help but wonder what her mother must be thinking right now.
I have no idea what has happened to the person I thought I knew, but clearly, she has completely taken leave of her senses in endorsing a Republican who is little more than a Trump sycophant -- less than 24 hours after promising me that she has not wavered from the bigger picture.
I am disgusted with her cynicism and cowardice in this moment. God forgive me for trusting her.
If you're a Michigan voter and as disgusted as I am, get to your polling place and vote for Dr. El-Sayed.
Treasonous attention seeker. Attention seeks. For Russian pats on the back.
.@HaleyforMI did something most politicians fail to do on a regular basis:
she put our county over her party.
Against massive political pressure she endorsed @MikeRogersForMI for Senate. Well done Haley. I tip my hat to you.

BREAKING: A member of Perfecting Church in Detroit is FURIOUS after Mike Rogers appeared alongside Haley Stevens.
“It’s UNCONSCIONABLE! This is CRAZY!”
He says he confronted Stevens after the service: “I’m completely disappointed in you.”
Her response? “I’m sorry.”

Oh fuck off with your self righteous fence swinging. Just eurgh. He's a pro Nazi Pro pedo POS racist shit. She chose that.
Haley Stevens isn't dumb.
She knew before she backed Mike Rogers that she was abt to become the Democratic Party's greatest pariah this cycle. And that she'd never resurrect her political career if she did this.
If AES loses, she gets blamed. If he wins, she looks weak.
There is no political upside to what she did.
And yet she chose to do it anyway. Bc clearly she felt it was the right thing to do -- despite all the voices in her ear telling her not to.
Gutsy.

I know @HaleyforMI way better than most people on X. She and I came into Congress together in 2018. She was co-Prez of our freshman class. She was incredibly kind to me when my late partner died; she organized a big group of our class to come to the House floor to support me when I spoke about his suicide. We were roommates in 2023, after my wonderful first roomie lost her election; both my adult kids know Haley well and are on a texting basis with her. We’ve socialized and we have good friends in common. While she and I differ on one impt issue, specifically Israel and AIPAC support, I’ve never publicly challenged her on those things, because I felt that her good points outweighed the issues I disagreed with her on. Today, that changes. 👇
Haley’s endorsement of Rogers in the MI senate race is appalling. Not because he’s a Republican, but because what he stands for is what she, and I, and our caucus has fought so hard against. Rogers is a 100% anti-choice politician. He is a Trump loyalist. He’s shown his Islamophobia in his many remarks against @AbdulElSayed, and with this endorsement, Haley has shown that she agrees with his positions. I’m shocked by Haley’s endorsement. I’m terribly sad and disappointed. I’m furious and will be more so if we lose the MI senate race. So many people in the Democratic Party have shown so much support to Haley over the years, and she has betrayed them all. If this is because of her new relationship (about which many of us were so happy for her after she lost the primary), all I can say is that any woman who abandons her friends when a new guy comes along is no friend at all. The fallout for Haley won’t just be in Dem politics; she will be a pariah among her friends in the Democratic caucus in Congress. Only she will be able to decide whether it was worth it.

History will remember that when voting rights were on the line in 2026, Paul Weiss and other law firms hid under the bed.

This is factual and worth knowing and coming to terms with if we are going to understand the rise of far-right sentiment. We are in an asymmetrical propaganda assault on democracy. The Islamophobia, anti immigrant craze is part of a concerted campaign to divide democratic nations. Be aware.
Let talk about what’s been happening to children in Texas foster care under Greg Abbott.
This has been going on for at least 15 YEARS, mind you.
A federal lawsuit was filed in 2011 after years of documented failures in Texas’s foster care system. In 2015, a federal judge found that children were being exposed to an unreasonable risk of harm while in state custody.
And the problems haven’t disappeared.
Court-appointed monitors have continued documenting children placed in homes with histories of abuse, neglect and exploitation. Some facilities have kept children isolated for days or weeks. There have been serious supervision failures, and children have died while in state care.
The state’s own agency reports that children entering foster care increasingly have severe trauma and behavioral and mental health needs.
Meanwhile, Texas has handed billions of dollars in foster care contracts to private companies. One of its largest contractors, EMPOWER, was terminated this summer after two children in its care DIED over two years and the state identified serious management failures.
And what is Abbott’s administration doing? Oh let’s see…
On October 20, Texas went to federal court asking a judge to end the federal oversight that has been monitoring this system for years. The state says it has spent hundreds of millions on reforms and is ready to manage the system itself.
But the court-appointed monitors are still raising serious safety concerns. These are children. They are in state custody. The state has a legal responsibility to protect them. Now, Greg Abbott wants the federal court to step aside. While children are STILL being abused.
Fifteen years of litigation, billions in spending, repeated warnings and children still being exposed to dangerous conditions.
This is what Republicans do when they’re in charge.
But wait, it gets more disturbing.

TEXAS
What the actual f….
If you’re even slightly considering not voting for Gina Hinojosa for governor, or James Talerico for Senator, you need to see this.
Absolutely horrific. All under Abbott’s watch and Paxton helped defend him in court.
Kudos to the woman who has been documenting these harms. Children in the TX Foster system deserve care, instead Abbott’s system has allowed them to be severely harmed, even reports of death have occurred. In some cases these children have even been transported. Unbelievable malpractice by a governor.
DO NOT FORGET Abbott signed a bill into law banning abortion in Texas. He’s not about protecting life, he’s about controlling women and girls.
He doesn’t care about children.
