So William Saliba, the best CB in the world, has another PFA team of the year level season and a top three performer for us in our title winning campaign. That yields 29th place.
In comes Julián Quiñones, ranking higher for having a couple of good WC games.
Ballon d'Or’s are always a mess. Buts it’s 10 times more egregious during WC years.

The stats tell a story, but anyone with eyes can also tell you the level that Raya has been at over the past calendar year.
He has everything required from a modern keeper. Shot stopping, box control, distribution ect, he’s the best GK in the world and it isn’t a debate 👍

I think United should consider an interim manager next. Just let everything calm down a bit.
Why not a former player? They would know the club inside out. It's got to be an advantage.
And if they do ok, why not give them the gig full time next summer?

What if Mikel Arteta has found a way to beat fatigue without sacrificing results? 👀🔴⚪
The more I watch Arsenal this season, the more I wonder whether what we’re seeing is deliberate.
It feels like we’re playing in 45-minute bursts. Conservative, controlled football in the first half, then turning up the intensity and unleashing fresh legs from the bench in the final 30 minutes.
And there’s another detail I’ve noticed.
Once we take the lead, we no longer seem to retreat 5–8 metres and invite pressure as often as we did last season. We stay higher, maintain control and manage the game on our terms.
Could Arteta be finding a way to avoid asking the same players to go full throttle for 90 minutes, three times a week, while still winning matches?
The triple substitution is becoming almost as familiar as the traditional double change. At this point, it feels less like coincidence and more like a deliberate strategy.
And knowing how meticulous Arteta is, I wouldn’t be surprised if there’s a bigger plan behind it.
Look at the Premier League minutes after seven games, including Nottingham Forest:
🔴 David Raya — 630 minutes
🔴 Gabriel Magalhães — 630 minutes
🔴 Bukayo Saka — 596 minutes
🔴 Declan Rice — 591 minutes
🔴 Riccardo Calafiori — 587 minutes
Now look at some of the summer signings:
🔴 Ezri Konsa — 462 minutes
🔴 Christos Tzolis — 362 minutes
🔴 Bruno Guimarães — 217 minutes
There’s a balance between relying on key players and gradually integrating fresh legs into the team.
And remember, it’s a World Cup year, and we’re only in October.
My theory? Arsenal are managing their energy now, maintaining consistency through the season and positioning themselves to hit another level when April and May arrive.
Of course, this is my interpretation of what I’m seeing, not confirmation of Arteta’s actual plan.
But the timing of the substitutions, the game management and the rotation are making me wonder whether there’s a bigger picture at work.
Maybe the aim isn’t to play at maximum intensity for 90 minutes every week. Maybe it’s to know exactly WHEN to turn it on during the last 30 minutes
If that’s what Arteta is building, we could be watching some seriously clever management. 🧠🔴⚪
