Why Read The Bible In Hebrew?
Well, remember when God gets angry at Sarah for laughing when she hears that God will grant her a child?
What exactly did Sarah do wrong?!
A thread (for non-Hebrew readers too!) 🧵 1
Buffalo Bill Cody was alive at the same time as someone who was into Homestar Runner
World’s oldest Internet user?
107-year-old Janet Thorpe, born in 1894 under the reign of Queen Victoria, taking a computer study course at her Residential Home in Swinton, Yorkshire.
The course, called MaturITy, is open to residents in old people’s homes in Rotherham and teaches elderly people basic computer skills, including surfing the web.
Sources in James’s camp confirmed that his morning routine also includes “yelling at Sixers rookies to cut out the funny business”, “staring at clouds” and “accusing Agatha of cheating at bingo”
Cool, cool, cool, okay so what I’m mostly interested in here is what @mattyglesias means by “mostly” secular, is this a Miracle Max scenario
It can be hard to wrap your mind around the scale of 9/11. That’s why Welles’s heroism, The Man In The Red Bandanna, always stuck with me.
He was an ordinary man. But to at least a dozen people trapped in the South Tower…he was a saving angel.
May his memory be a blessing.
24-year-old South Tower employee Welles Crowther calls his mother from the badly-burning 77th floor: “Mom, this is Welles,” he says, with a large amount of interference and commotion heard in the background. “I’m okay.”
He then tells her that he’s going to go to the Sky Lobby to see what can be done about evacuating survivors and hangs up.
Here’s the story
Welles Crowther is a hero. A @BCEagles graduate. A son, a brother & friend. At 24, he saved over a dozen lives on 9/11. And he’s known as the “Man in the Red Bandana”.
This story is a must watch every year. May Welles’ memory continue to be a blessing.
I’ve now seen like a hundred different objections to @tylercowen’s view on AI and asset prices, and it seems to me that you can pretty much boil them all down to the frustration that he is transforming doomerism from “fun” into “work”
In 1376 John of Gaunt threatened to drag the Bishop of London out of St Paul’s by his hair and even he had more respect for the cathedral than this
Fabric. St Paul’s Cathedral. Name a more iconic duo.
Bringing together these two institutions will create a one-of-a-kind experience, pairing world-class music with one of our most special landmarks.

Umm...is this movie about a different Wat Tyler?
In any event, I'm actually out on this movie for a totally different reason, namely, that the real hero of late 14th century England, John Wycliffe, is apparently not even in it!
"If there's any billionaires watching, I hope they're scared shitless"
- Andrew Garfield on what he hopes people take away from watching #TheUprising 😂
I feel like I'm a pretty normal sports fan, so I gotta admit I don't 100% get this Clippers stuff. Like, okay, they broke the rules. Sure.
But like...apparently the guy who exposed it got a Pulitzer? That seems insane. There just aren't any stakes here! This isn't Watergate!
