The game takes place after Tales of Xillia and follows Ludger Will Kresnik; the Kresnik family possesses the ability to infiltrate and destroy parallel dimensions. Since the spirit Origin cannot sustain such an abundance of souls, a prominent company hires Ludger to destroy these dimensions and thereby maintain the world's balance. The central theme of the game is "an RPG where your choices shape the future."

The visuals have been given a fresh coat of paint, and a variety of compelling quality-of-life improvements have been introduced. These serve a dual purpose: bringing the game’s technical aspects up to modern standards, while aligning its gameplay style with the conventions expected of today’s JRPGs.
Beyond the features available in the enhancement menu—such as the ability to disable enemy encounters, retry battles, and double movement speed while exploring—the game also benefits from better placement of items like treasures, search points, and destination icons. These additions elevate a gaming experience that was built on a very solid foundation.
With these new features combined with the original content, *Tales of Xillia* not only impresses us but also leaves us craving even more *Tales*. And that "more" is just around the corner, as its sequel will be the next title to be featured in this project.
