They killed George Floyd on a false accusation of using a fake $20 bill. They killed Eric Garner on a false accusation of selling loose cigarettes. They killed Kalief Browder on a false accusation that he stole a backpack. They killed Kohen Wiley on a false accusation that his mother stole diapers. This is not new. This is not a bug in the system. This system has always lied to justify dehumanizing Black people as less than property. This system cannot fail those it was never meant to protect.

An 18-year-old was accused of pointing a gun at an officer and faced an attempted murder charge. But body camera footage reportedly showed him cooperating and had his hands raised the entire time! Prosecutors dropped the charges. Imagine if that footage didn’t exist. The proper use of body cameras should be NON-NEGOTIABLE.

🚨 Teen charged with raping two high school girls and one of whom needed neck surgery after being strangled just had his case dismissed and sealed. JESSE BUTLER was given youthful offender status in Oklahoma. He completed the program and the charges were dropped one day before his 19th birthday. The case will now be expunged as if it never happened. During the final hearing, the defense claimed the perpetrator suffered more than the victims. The new District Attorney said it made his “blood boil.” Two victims. No prison time. Case erased.
