But really, I’m writing a newsletter, as a treat (for me). It’ll be a little about New Orleans cats but maybe mostly about books and music and other stuff. You can sign up here if you think that sounds like a nice thing to read: ashleydean.substack.com/welc…

Well this is a huge bummer. Putting on a Pop-Up Zine in Denver was so fun and the Pop-Up Mag team was great to work with. (Click thru to the post if you’re hiring.)

We're all talking about Twitter like we're rationalizing staying in a bad relationship. "It's awful and bad for us but what would we do with out it?"

Also can't recommend walking to vote highly enough. A+ stuff. A little sunshine, a little sweat, a little New Orleans energy.

Neighbors have long rallied for change, but they’re up against a tangle of private and governmental interests, and potential solutions regularly die unfunded, writes @ashleydean of the "Bywater train" antigravitymagazine.com/feat…

The sound of the bywater train at night is romantic af. Being trapped in Bywater by the train when you're trying to go somewhere is actual hell.
If you live near these tracks (which I do) it's not really about the noise. The noise is fine. But anyone around here will tell you it's a safety issue. Frustrated drivers flying down residential streets (sometimes going the wrong way), blocked emergency vehicles — all that.

I have never actually used the pockets on a dress and I probably never will and I don't think anyone really is.

I'm all for fixing the grid but I'm not sure about picking a day with a likely 105-degree heat index to shut off our power for seven hours. 🥴

Update: Great read if you enjoy heavily sighing and shaking your head and angrily reading entire pages out loud to your partner/roommate.
Kicking off hurricane season mad as hell.

New Orleans welcoming us back with a gentle boom followed by a power outage. We love when she stays on brand.
