🍂❄️ SUMMER IS OFFICIALLY IN THE BIN… AND OUR WINTER TIMETABLE IS HERE! ⏰♻️ As the clocks go back, our public recycling drop-off hours change too. If you’re clearing out those drawers, cupboards and garages in time for the festive season, then here’s when to bring your unwanted electrical bits and bobs to Aspire Sheffield! 📅 25 October 2026 – 28 March 2027 🗓️ Thursdays and Fridays ⏰ 09:00–16:00 🍽️ Closed for lunch: 12:00–13:00 🎄 Closed over Christmas and every bank holiday. Before loading up and heading over, please check the front page of our website for unexpected closures or changes: 🌐 aspire-sheffield.co.uk 🍂 YOUR WINTER RECYCLING QUESTIONS ANSWERED 🍂 ❓ Why do we have a winter timetable? November through to February are our busiest months for collecting donated equipment from businesses. With just 34 working days between 1st November and our Christmas closedown, our small team spends more time out on collections, leaving fewer people on site to receive public donations. Limiting public drop-offs to Thursdays and Fridays helps us manage both demands and have staff available to welcome you at least two day in the week. ❓ What if I turn up on a Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday? We’ll never turn you away if someone is available to help! However, our team may be out on collections or working elsewhere, so there might not be anyone around to receive your items. Please aim for Thursday or Friday. ❓ Is there suitable lighting when the car park gets dark? Yes, the centre has appropriate lighting, although we recommend visiting while there’s sufficient daylight wherever possible. It makes unloading and moving around easier and safer for everyone. ❓ Can I drop things off while you’re closed? Please only bring items when a team member is available to receive them. NEVER leave electrical equipment outside unattended and hand it over to us so we can deal with it properly. Especially items containing data! 💚 Thank you for working around our winter hours and keeping those unwanted electricals coming. Every donation supports our recycling and refurbishment work, helping us create practical work experience opportunities for people facing barriers to employment. Your old gadgets can still do a world of good! ♻️ PLEASE SHARE AND INFORM YOUR FRIENDS, GROUPS AND NETWORKS! #AspireSheffield #WinterTimetable #ElectricalRecycling #ReuseRepairRecycle #Sheffield #SocialEnterprise

Even though Aspire takes care of every aspect of secure data destruction (and we’re certified to the ISO 27001 standard) we understand some donors may still prefer to clear their own data before donating. 🔐♻️ This handy guide explains how to do it: recycleyourelectricals.org.u… #DataSecurity #RecycleYourElectricals #WEEE #Sheffield

🌞 This Sunday, while many of us enjoy a day of rest… Hundreds of people in Sheffield will have nowhere warm to go. No hot meal. No friendly face. No moment of dignity. That’s why we’re incredibly proud to announce that The Sunday Centre is our Charity of the Year. ❤️ For over 25 years, this small, home-grown Sheffield charity has opened its doors every single Sunday at Victoria Hall — the one day when most other support services close. They welcome over 100 vulnerable guests: people sleeping rough, in insecure housing, battling poverty, addiction, mental health struggles, or simply facing isolation. They don’t just serve food. They serve hope. ❤️ 🍽️ A nutritious hot meal (meat or vegetarian), fresh fruit, treats, and — most importantly — a genuine welcome, a chance to sit, talk, and feel human again in a safe, warm space. Like many small, vital charities, they have no steady income. They run entirely on donations, goodwill, and the dedication of volunteers. This year, we’re stepping up: donating our own equipment to power their operations, raising funds, and amplifying their voice across our networks. But we can’t do this alone. 👉 Now it’s your turn. 🏢 Businesses — Sponsor a Sunday session for £120 and directly feed over 100 people in need. Donate equipment, supplies, or funds. Show your community what real corporate responsibility looks like. 🙌 Individuals — Give what you can. Share this post. Come down and volunteer. Spread the word. Every donation, every share, every act of kindness keeps the doors open and the lights on for those who need it most. Together, we can make sure no one in Sheffield spends Sunday alone and hungry. ❤️ 🌐 Visit thesundaycentre.org to donate, sponsor, or find out how to help. 🏷️ Tag a business or friend who should get involved. Let’s show The Sunday Centre some serious Sheffield love ❤️ #Sheffield #CharityOfTheYear #SundayCentre #Homelessness #CommunityMatters #SupportLocal

🎄 Christmas Closure Alert! 🎄 We’re putting our feet up for Christmas! A perfect chance for our amazing team to enjoy the festivities and enjoy some well earned down time. It's been a rocky road for everyone this year. ✅ Closed from: Friday 19th December 🔌 Back on: Monday 5th January 2026 A massive THANK YOU to every electrical & IT donor including businesses, organisations, and the general public, who’ve recycled with us this year. Your generosity has genuinely blown us away, especially with the cost of living crisis affecting so many people, SME's and Corporates alike. Because of you, mountains of old kit have been turned into valuable materials… and word is that Santa’s sleigh is looking suspiciously well-stocked with shiny new products made from recycled goodness. 🎅 ✨ ♻️ Have a brilliant festive break, and we’ll see you in the New Year - refreshed, recharged, and ready to recycle on! 💚 We look forward to seeing you all in 2026. #ChristmasClosure #Recycling #EWaste #TechRecycling #CircularEconomy #ThankYou #SeeYouInTheNewYear 🎁 ♻️ 🔧

🎉♻️ It’s the Great Cable Challenge! ♻️🎉 Who says recycling has to be boring? These two are proving it can be electrifyingly good fun ⚡ We’re proud to be part of The Great Cable Challenge for International E-Waste Day – helping Sheffield stay wired for good! 💙 🔌 Got a drawer full of tangled old cables? Don’t bin them – bring them to Aspire Sheffield and we’ll recycle them properly. Every lead, charger and wire contains valuable copper just waiting for a new life. 🏅 Copper keeps our world connected – from phones and transport to clean energy and healthcare. It’s 100% recyclable, and reusing it takes up to 85% less energy than mining new copper. With demand rising and resources becoming harder to find, the answer’s simple: let’s make the most of what we’ve already got. 🌎 So, go on – untangle that drawer, give your old cables one last spin, and help us power a greener future! ⚡💪 #GreatCableChallenge #InternationalEWasteDay #RecycleYourElectricals #AspireSheffield #WiredForGood #CopperCounts #RecyclingCanBeFun

🌍💥 Earth-Shattering News! 💥🌍 🚀 “We’re going into space!” 🚀 That’s right! Even something as ordinary as an old TV remote can end up on an extraordinary journey. We receive loads of redundant remotes, and while they might not be suitable for reuse, recycling gives them a new life. ♻️ ✨ The magic of recycling is that most electrical items can be recovered and transformed into something new. Some components may even find themselves on exciting new missions, maybe even blasting off into space! 🌌 👉 Imagine it: one minute the remote is flicking through mind-numbing TV channels… and next, its sedentary life could be part of the technology that takes humanity to the stars. ⭐ Come and get us @elonmusk Recycling isn’t just about the past — it’s about creating the future. 💙♻️

It’s back to school for some, but every day can be a school day. Did you know us Brits bin or stash away enough cables each year to reach the moon and back? ♻️ Recycle them instead via the Great Cable Challenge so the copper inside can be reused. Find out how – link in bio!

Our appetite for FastTech is growing. We bought 1 billion cheap electricals in the UK in the last year – and over half of them were binned. By making sure these items are recycled when we’ve finished with them, the materials in them can be reused. 👉🏼 bit.ly/3K1zype

We spent £72 million on mini fans in the last year to try and beat the heat. Before you rush out to buy one this summer: • Check if you already have one you forgot about • Consider a paper or wooden fan instead • Recycle any broken mini fans you find lurking at home

We snapped up 7.1 million mini fans in the last year – and they’re set to be a hot trend again this summer. By making sure mini fans are recycled when they’ve whirred their last, the precious, finite materials inside them can be reclaimed and reused. ow.ly/2kWx50Woq8G

This year, we’re doing something a little different with our support package. With Sheffield’s growing enthusiasm for repair and reuse, we’re thrilled to announce that our 2025 charity partner is Reyt Repair! 📷 Reyt Repair is a fantastic community-driven initiative that’s all about fixing instead of binning, sharing skills, and reducing waste. Their volunteer-led approach not only helps the environment but also brings people together, making repair more accessible and empowering Sheffield’s residents. At Aspire, we believe in giving tech a second life, so this partnership is a perfect match! Over the next year, we’ll be donating IT and electrical equipment to support their vital work. We’re also committed to boosting their profile and helping them grow into a long-term, sustainable force for change in the city. 📷 Love fixing things? Hate waste? Want to be part of the right-to-repair movement? Get involved! Follow us and Reyt Repair to stay updated and find out how you can help make repair the norm in Sheffield. #ReytRepair #RightToRepair #FixDontBin #AspireSupportsRepair #sheffieldsustainability
