In Geneva, the U.S. joined 27 partner countries and international organizations at the 6th Consultative Meeting on Sudan. Our message was clear: Sudan's war must end, and there is no military solution to the conflict. Every day that this war continues comes at a devastating cost to Sudanese civilians and risks spreading further instability to the region. We expressed our strong support for the work of the Quintet in facilitating an inclusive, credible, and Sudanese-owned political process, which complements our work with the Quad to push for a humanitarian truce leading to a permanent ceasefire. Thank you to Switzerland and the UN for hosting this important convening, and to all our partners who raised their voices with us in support of ending the conflict.

The United States welcomes the recent meeting in Dakar between the Alliance of Sahel States (AES) and ECOWAS as a first, high-level public step toward cooperation between the two blocs. We support dialogue led by our regional partners to foster long-term stability and burden-sharing engagements in West Africa.

Last week at Arfican Energy Week in Cape Town, I delivered a keynote address, “From Discovery to Delivery: Namibia’s Path to First Oil,” outlining the opportunities and decisions that will shape Namibia’s emergence as a major energy producer and strategic commercial gateway for Southern Africa.
Namibia’s extraordinary offshore discoveries have attracted global attention. The challenge now is translating that potential into investment, infrastructure, commercial production, and lasting economic growth.
Under President Donald J. Trump’s leadership, the United States is advancing an America First approach to commercial diplomacy - opening markets for American companies, promoting competitive investment environments, and securing tangible results that strengthen American economic and national security.
American energy companies bring world-class technology, engineering expertise, and operational capabilities to some of the most demanding projects on earth. Their participation in Namibia’s emerging energy industry represents an important opportunity to advance American energy dominance while creating economic opportunities for both nations.
Geology attracts attention. Policy determines whether attention becomes investment.
Our focus is clear: reciprocity, investment, and measurable results - turning extraordinary opportunity into commercial success.

🇺🇸 🇩🇯 American and Djiboutian naval personnel continue to work together to strengthen maritime security in the Red Sea and Bab el-Mandeb. Recently, U.S. trainers worked alongside the Djiboutian Navy to reinforce maritime interception capabilities, improve operational planning, and conduct technical assessments and maintenance of U.S.-provided patrol boats. Training opportunities like this strengthen longstanding security cooperation and enhance Djibouti’s ability to protect its territorial waters and safeguard vital international shipping lanes.
American company Anzana Electric has signed a $1.4 billion public-private partnership with the Government of Burundi to transform the country's electricity grid, the largest investment in Burundi's history. Over the next several years, the agreement will raise the electrification rate from 12 percent to 70 percent, bringing reliable power to millions of Burundians for the first time. A modern grid will open the door to a new wave of U.S. private-sector investment and strengthen U.S. supply chains, including in mining and agro-processing. Building it will put thousands of Burundians to work, proving what partnership with American business can deliver for both our countries.

At the @UNSC today, Ambassador Bartos (@AmbUNReform) expressed our intense concern about the deepening of severe food insecurity in Sudan with even more people facing the risk of famine as drought compounds the devastating impacts of conflict. This is a man-made crisis, made by those choosing every day to continue fighting and whose military actions have repeatedly targeted civilians and food systems such as farmlands and markets. The same actors are holding back humanitarian assistance. We continue to call for unhindered humanitarian access free from interference, including administrative impediments. Sudan’s warring parties must agree to a humanitarian truce that allows unhindered humanitarian access to those at risk of famine and the millions of Sudanese facing alarming levels of food insecurity, and that can complement the Quintet’s efforts to facilitate an inclusive Sudanese-led civilian dialogue and political process.

It is time to restore peace and give power back to the Sudanese people.
Drone strikes and air attacks continue to kill and injure scores of civilians every day.
This must stop.
The United States will continue to push to expand the arms embargo to cut off external military support for the warring parties. @AmbUNReform
