My name is Athena Burciaga and I am Chapter Co-Chair of .@CentralCoastDSA and our first endorsed cadre candidate for office!
In the race for city council in Marina’s 4th district, I was told that if I broke from the status quo, the mayor would run a Republican against me…

Haley Stevens’ betrayal today shows us it’s not that progressive Democrats, or even democratic socialists, need their own party. It’s that politicians like Haley Stevens always had more in common with Republicans like Mike Rogers and Donald Trump than with the Democratic base. And now she admits it.
That’s why it’s so important to run democratic primaries. It’s not enough to send Democrats to Washington, we have to send Democrats who are fighting for the things working class voters want!
Happy Halloween! Vote for citywide rent control, more student housing, and a Marina we can afford November 3rd! 🎃

…and that he did. Our current council would rather see a Republican win than a democratic socialist.
They were sorely mistaken, though, as our campaign has by far raised the most money out of any other candidate in the race!
The Democratic Party in our county also endor-
-sed our campaign, which speaks to the undeniable movement we have been able to build locally.

Let’s bring this thing home in November! I would be honored to be our chapters’ first SIO ^.^ 🗳️
