Sadly circumcision only comes up in political debates in comparison to something else. It's time circumcision becomes a debate in itself.

Something tells me this candidate won't advocate the repeal of California's explicit statutory protections for the most common medically unsound child genital cutting practice (male circumcision).
California is the only state to have a law like this on the books.
Nobody on my watch is going to mutilate children.
I will criminally prosecute anyone in the medical or education community who harms a child.
And I'll dismiss Bonta's lawsuits against hospitals that refused, within minutes of being sworn in.

What we need is for the circumcision discourse to reignite.
The discourse has been largely dormant since ~2011-2016. Culture has shifted a lot since then, and at this point it's probably ready to discard child circumcision entirely.
Circumcision is a sacrifice ritual.
Routine infant circumcision is a deeply normalized practice that many parents agree to without understanding its implications.
Shortly after birth, families are often pressured by medical authority to permit the permanent removal of healthy, highly sensitive tissue from their newborn’s body, rarely engaging in a meaningful discussion regarding its necessity, long-term impact, or available alternatives.
Because an infant cannot consent, this irreversible alteration is made entirely without the individual's voice. Once the sacrifice ritual has occurred, the medical industry profits off of the foreskin by selling it to a biotech company that will profit further.
To protect the wellbeing of the next generation, parents must move away from this barbaric procedure and actively advocate for their children’s inherent right to remain whole.
Perhaps our government should also cut the estimated $145 million in Medicaid spending on medically worthless preemptive circumcision of American newborns.

Defenders of male circumcision often try to distinguish it from female genital cutting, which they say has nothing to do with medicine.
But female circumcision (clitoral hood reduction) was a widespread U.S. medical practice for much of the 20th century alongside male circumcision.
Medicalization isn't synonymous with legitimacy. If it were, we'd still have medicalized lobotomies, bloodletting, and trepanation.
The only reason we still have male circumcision and not these other procedures (including FGC) is because it's entrenched culturally and religiously.
It would be an easy win for @RestoreBritain to adopt the same anti-circumcision policy @TheGreenParty was recently considering.
Restore have had no qualms about banning Kosher and Halal slaughter, so there's no reason for them to not also favor banning genital mutilation of boys.
Many inaccurately think circumcision is a minor procedure akin to administering a vaccine.
In reality, it's a full-blown surgery undertaken while the baby is awake, often requiring immobilizers like this one.
More and more credentialed U.S. physicians are affirmatively rejecting non-therapeutic circumcision for male minors.
