Currently cars and trucks in Australia can drive at 50 km/h around schools and kids walking to school. Watch this video, then re-consider 30 km/h zones around schools and kids. Who’s with me? @AusCycle @amygillettfdn @BetterSts4AUS @bicycle_network @30kmhEU @20splentyforus

All I can think is how far Melbourne has fallen behind Sydney in its pursuit for safer cycling. @sallycapp @DanielAndrewsMP – at Victoria, Australia
The College St cycleway is back – this time for good! Before it was removed eight years ago, College St was one of the city’s most popular bike routes, with over 2,000 cyclists riding it daily. It was devastating to see it torn up, but its return is a sign of how far we've come.

Our governments need to embrace scooters and skate boards. Stop demonising but actively promote them. Car driver killing a scooter rider is not justification to attack active transport. It is an excuse to promote alternative transport and control drivers from being oblivious

At $2.15 a litre for fuel I'm calling all cycling, walking and public transport advocates to support all forms of active transport. That means scooters, skate boards, roller blades, any way we can reduce our reliance on cars and especially oil. We need to work together

Great work. Can we have an update on Black Forest Drive in Macedon where a 2nd cyclist was killed. Word on the street is that DoT put a business case forward to build safe bicycle lanes but the Minister vetoed it! How many more lives will be sacrificed before action is taken?

Mandatory helmets on scooters will seriously limit their amenity in commuter share schemes - in the same way as it has with cycle share schemes in Australia. @theprojecttv @bicycle_network @MelbrneCommuter @AusCycle @RACV_Official – at Bendigo, Victoria

So @VicGovDoT and @TACVictoria with @VicGovAu are now going to make motor vehicle insurance mandatory for all drivers? Like the rest of the world? @AusCycle @bicycle_network @WeRideAustralia If not, you are not serious about promoting road safety. – at Ottawa, Ontario

@BrentToderian he might not be the best example here, but didn’t Henry Ford say, “if I’d asked people what they wanted, they would have said ‘faster horses’”? #copenhagen #amsterdam #paris #thepastispast @bicycle_network @MelbrneCommuter @AusCycle – at Bendigo, Victoria

Do Melbourne's traffic lights still prioritise cars and trucks over people wanted to cross roads? That has always felt backwards to me. @BenCarrollMP @bicycle_network @AusCycle

We watched as the media ignored all the evidence of a miscarriage of justice in the Mike Hall Coronial Inquest where 6 cops (5 AFP) made statements to court they were at odds with the facts. Without effective journalism, our police and our courts cannot be held to account. – at Ottawa, Ontario
