Former Police Officer for 16 years here - served in Victoria Police. 8 Years on the Front Line - many of those years working in the CBD, many times at the various protests that would occur at Parliament Steps, or surrounds. I can unequivocally say, as will many former cops who see this post - that The Left Wing Protest Groups were always far more violent and extreme in their protest behavior than any right wing motivated group. Every.Single.Time. It has only gotten worse, and just like police have lost control of crime on the streets, they have lost control of dealing with these violent thugs, so much so, that the police response now is to "Move on" the peaceful Right-Wing motivated groups and let the Left-Wing Extremists have at it. Shameful.

Economic interests are all our interests? If The Right is as bad as you say it is, why is that our Country is in terrible debt, my State Victoria (where The Left have been in-charge the longest), is broke, missing police, high in dangerous crime, low in criminals being in jail, high on home invasions, tax, car bombings, more tax, stabbings, another tax, less transparency, more tax, no accountability for politicians who make terrible choices, and the most corrupt Union to ever walk the face of this country????? Please tell me.... I'd love to know who to vote for!

Turn the temperature down? 🤷🤦 Hey Bazz, why don't we all agree not to resort to name calling or baseless remarks. Either you're genuinely interested in the direction of Australia, or you just want to play divisive politics.

Amazing new story in Australian politics. An elderly man died and his property sat vacant as his daughter tried to renovate it so she could move in. Victorian Socialists Senate candidate Jordan Van Den Lamb (Purple Pingers) posted the address and encouraged people to squat in it because it was “vacant.” A group of squatters moved in, changed the locks and sold all old man’s possessions. Leaving his daughter heartbroken. The ABC asked Mr van den Lamb if he wanted to apologise to Carol. "I guess so," he said. "I don't want her to feel bad." But Mr van den Lamb said he would like to have "a bigger conversation" with Carol about the housing crisis. "For every story like hers there are hundreds of stories of people sleeping rough," he said.

Definitely got that impression. He did not want to engage with me on a human level. It was like his entire identity relied on me being the enemy, no matter what I said....he had to hate me, because if he didn't, his entire existence in the political world would be compromised.

I would challenge any Australian to read some of these threats and some of the abuse that is reported to us from other Women fighting for female sex-based rights, and for anyone to argue that it is free speech or political discourse. Funny that the conversation about political threats of violence, death, rape etc are only 'outrageous' and 'unacceptable now a politician has been seriously injured. I guess this issue that has pervaded political discourse for us "regular" folk just isn't as important 🤷 I'm glad the conversation is being had, but when did Politicians as a class of people become a group "more worthy" of protection than anybody else in the community?

I'm not sure. I think much of it is specific training they get. Because they all speak in a very similar way that seems to be purposely obfuscating...and so many of them do it, so it suggests coordinated training..

They need to engage in conversation, or leave politics because they are not acting in good faith.

I had to deal with Social Workers as a kid. I legitimately feel so sorry for children that may have to deal with having her as their advocate.

This is outrageous. There is no evidence WHATSOEVER that the hilarious One Nation Cartoons have anything to do with the increase in threats and actual violence in the politic-sphere. There is every peice of evidence that Socialism (Left wing extremism) is the root cause of this increase. To suggest otherwise is a failure of leadership and Barrett should resign her post in shame.
This is outrageous. There is no indication or suggestion whatsoever that One Nation's cartoons had the SLIGHTEST impact on what happened last week. If anything, we should be talking about drug use, mental health, and a failure of policing to handle repeated community concerns about dangerous individuals. Another attempt to deflect public attention from actual system failures and blame a politically inconvenient cartoon that POINTS OUT THESE FAILURES. This attack on satire must stop.

Perhaps a lesson I have yet to learn. I don't want to dehumanise them and just write them off. I think these young people have been brainwashed and so it's like a disease. They need help! I just don't know how we reach them 🤷

Definitely true on the anger part. Which is why I tried to bring him down a little, like, hey, let's just chat....two people at an event here concerned about the same things...let's find some common ground. But he had no interest whatsoever.

Yeah she said she worked in youth services. Definitely felt like she had more weak excuses for youth who offend, way more than she had sympathy for the victims of their crimes. (In that she had absolutely none).

I think the issue is once burned twice shy. They have Candidates who aren't fully across policy, or know how to confidently respond to a policy question the Party doesn't have a current position on, and they flounder... This footage is then promulgated widely by opposition and harms the brand. So the Party's response is to minimise those media opportunities... That's my two cents worth anyway.

I don't know anything about her to be honest, except that she has completely "othered" One Nation Candidates and supporters. I called out encouraging words to her when she gave good responses, and clapped for her when she gave excellent points (again on many issues that all Candidates agreed were problems). But none of it mattered. To her, I am the enemy. I am someone and One Nation is something to be conquered and destroyed. Socialism as a political movement in this country is very dangerous indeed.
