I'm very pleased to announce that I will be TOURING AUSTRALIA IN NOVEMBER 2024!
With a new, live show:
From Cell to Civilisation:
Humankind, genetics, and archaeology
Who are we? Where do we come from? What does it mean to be human?
By peering deep into the past and dragging clues out into the light, science can now provide us with some of the answers to the questions that people have always asked.

After a long week with a lot of scares with my wifes health and now my dad passing away yesterday....
Also that thing that happened in the US.
I need to switch off, I am moving this app off the homepage to help and drifting to the brighter place. See you all there! β at Melbourne, Victoria
Yesterday I said goodbye to my Dad at the age of 69 after a long but brave battle with dementia. Tough but honestly a relief from the horrible illness! Just sharing a few images of this lovely man, Trevor.
Not a religious man but he was so I say... finally with mum again! β at Melbourne, Victoria

I still occasionally pinch myself, even after all these years, when visiting places behind the former Iron Curtain. For instance, this is a building in #Riga I never thought in my worst nightmare I would ever enter: the KGB building. And it's as bad as I feared. β at Riga, Latvia

Auschwitz II-Birkenau. A pond near the ruins of the gas chamber and crematorium II. While most of the human ash from the crematoria was thrown into nearby rivers, some were also put into several ponds in the camp area.

ALT Former Auschwitz II-Birkenau camp. This image shows a somber, open landscape under an overcast sky. In the foreground, four black stone memorial plaques are arranged in a row, commemorating victims of Auschwitz. The area surrounding the plaques is grassy with a patch of reeds or tall grasses to the right. Trees with autumn foliage are visible in the background, and a fence line with evenly spaced poles stretches along the left side.
Pulled over on the long drive back from Melbourne in time to catch the return journey of the @SteamrailVic locomotive! Love it! Inner child smiling! β at Victoria, Australia
