The trickle down effect of the changes 2026 season is being felt in the very first KFT event.
Marcus Plunkett earned guaranteed starts by finishing top 40 at the final stage of Q-school….
He is currently first alternate.
Last year this field went at least 30 players deeper on the priority list.
Truly unprecedented. Never has there been an issue with KFT Q-school guys getting into events.
The pga tour is going to have significant issues getting KFT grads and Q-school guys starts.
And that in turn will result in the issues we are already seeing on KFT.
Expanded fields might become the norm for 2025 to get players starts.
Wild.

There are clutch finishes in the final round of Q-school, and then there are clutch finishes.
@AustinSquires7 was 6 off the number to advance to the second stage of Q-school with 7 holes to play (started on 10). All he did was go 7-under to get thru by one
Holy Shit. #Stones

After being a Pro for 4 years, I’ve changed my stance on others retiring/quitting Pro golf. I used to think it was sad. Why would they quit? They’re so talented, they’re playing great? Etc etc.
The reality of pro golf is that while being immensely rewarding and adrenaline filled, it’s also EXTREMEly hard.
It’s not just the actual *golf* (which ebbs and flows whenever it likes, regardless of how hard you work). Travel is lonely. It’s draining. It’s not glamorous. Pro golf requires you give 110% every single week, or risk missing out on a paycheck. Or risk not having your job next year. The people around you are counting on you to pay them… And even the people who aren’t around you have opinions on what you’re doing wrong.
The stress of that lifestyle isn’t “normal”- and for some it eventually becomes too much.
I’ve realized that in my bad weeks and missed cuts, there’s still nowhere I’d rather be. Whether I’m cruising into the weekend or fighting to make birdies, I still love what I’m doing- and now I realize that some people just don’t feel that way. I respect the maturity that it takes to walk away from it, even if (in Lexi’s case) it means disappointing thousands of people who have watched you compete since you were 12.
I know Lexi will crush it in whatever she does… and while I will miss watching her, I’ll continue to look up to her. I can’t wait to see what she does next ❤️
So happy for my boy!
Tom Adrounie overslept and missed his Monday qualifier tee time last year @ValeroTXOpen.
Today, he shot a 5-under 67 to solidify his second start on TOUR 💪
