When I manually drive in rain….I slow down ..and if conditions get worse, I pull over until the rain lets up. On FSD v 14.3.10 when my Tesla is in a rain downpour and can’t proceed at posted speeds, it doesn’t just quit….it slows, warns, or pulls over, then **recovers** when conditions clear… same as I would do manually. The most common argument against vision only...I hear is add lidar and weather is solved” is **false**. In thick fog or heavy rain both sensors get stupid. What rain and fog do to a lidar: Lidar fires near-infrared pulses and times the bounce. Water in the air and on the dome does three things: Backscatter / ghost points the droplets return the pulse early. The cloud fills with fake nearby β€œobjects.” In dense fog, first echoes often sit in the first few meters: the fog itself, not the car ahead. Attenuation: Energy is scattered and absorbed on the way out and back. Range collapses. Dark objects disappear first. In one fog analysis, a black car dropped out of the cloud below about 140 m visibility. Pedestrians drop even sooner. Wet dome / film: Dew, dirt, foam, or water on the housing cuts the point count hard. One contamination study had dew wiping out more than 95% of points. Raindrops on a small MEMS aperture deflect or block the beam.

Fall colors on full display thanks to Tesla's FSD. Instead of staring at yellow lines and asphalt... I'm watching tree colors burning crimson and gold.

This stuff always amazes me ....
Also, who still remembers that back in February, Anthropic refused to let the Pentagon use Claude for warβ€”and the left cheered them as heroes? Now the same people are attacking Elon for doing the same thing, only this time people are actually dying. The double standard clearly shows they don’t care about Ukraine; they’re just anti-America.

Despite video evidence ....what is sad is that this champagne socialist doesn't even realise what a major class hypocrite, poseur, and putz he is.
Robert Reich in 2025: Trump is a fascist dictator for even suggesting that a company be taken over by the government and for telling a CEO what to do. Robert Reich in 2026: SpaceX and Starlink must be taken over by the government. Small man, giant fraud.

"Cool" from West Side Story. The line is "got a rocket in your pocket, keep cooly cool, boy" Elon singing to Tesla before the rumble with Waymo.

Gibney's four-hour Musk doc grossed six hundred forty-three thousand. Musk's Not-a-Flamethrower did ***ten million*** in four days. Gibney missed on both counts: the film flopped at the box office, and the man it tried to define still outsold it fifteen to one with a joke.

Thank you @grokbot ... and GoodBYE repetitive Junk Emails ( no longer have to delete. ) says @grokbot Done. I soft-deleted **6** junk messages from your emails A******* and **18** from B***** (they're recoverable in Outlook if anything was cleared by mistake). The new **Junk folder purge** runs every hour on weekdays from 8:00 AM to 7:00 PM ET. It auto-clears the known recurring senders, and messages you here only when something new shows up in Junk, or with a short count when it only cleared known spam. If both Junk folders are empty of work, it stays quiet. If a β€œnew” one turns out to be junk you never want again, just say so and I’ll add that sender to the auto-delete list.

Chuck provides clarity.
There are a lot of thoughts I want to share about @Tesla and @TeslaSI after this recent earnings call. Ashok @aelluswamy once again was the steady voice if you knew how to listen to what he said. Phil Duan @pduan has said the same things to me recently at the Cybercab Launch and other events. Listen carefully to what they say. FSD v15 with the huge increase in parameter count is the current plan and new bench mark they are betting on for functionality improvement. There is a set of new functions they are talking about that will be introduced in this new version that they hope will enable unsupervised at scale within the geofenced areas. It was mentioned in the earnings call as, additional opertating hours, high speed roads, and marginal weather conditionss. Ashok spoke specifically about one of the biggest new functionalities. New mapping and navigation learning behavior that will remove the dependency on third party maps. This is huge, and hopefully works well as navigation, lane selection, and poorly mapped speed zones, school zones, and local mapping details are a pain point on the current implementation. We have been here before, v12 solved, v13 solved, v14 solved, .. etc. I will be the first one to say.. this problem is never solved. We will never be happy with a single version and say its done. So take that mindset and throw it away. It is always an incremental improvement to continue and solve the unsupervised driving problem. Without at doubt, I have the most confidence in the leadership and members of the @TeslaSI team to be the leaders in solving this problem. I would argue that members of this team will probably be poached and asked to lead new teams at other companies and fork this technology into other versions. I hope this happens, both for the individuals and for the benefits it will ultimately bring to all of us driving the vehicles Bravo Zulu to the @TeslaSI team, I support each of you.
