Our team spent 10 years teaching machines to read documents. LLMs improved language understanding, but reliable document extraction still depends on the system around the model. Here’s what we learned building Azure Content Understanding 🧵

Our new image model generates images 2x faster than GPT-Image-2, currently the best model in the world. It's also 72% more efficient in GPU usage, so we can provide it at an incredible price. This gives it the best price-performance score in the world. Unbelievable work from the team. So much more to come! Try MAI-Image-2.6-Flash out now!

As @satyanadella says, we're making great progress on shipping MAI models that are higher quality, faster and cheaper across MSFT. In PowerPoint, our image model cut costs 84% compared with GPT-Image-2. In OneDrive, it lifted save rates 26% and cut latency by ~25%. It's also the default model in Bing delivering great quality and performance. In Dragon Copilot, our transcription model now covers 58 languages and halves the error rate on multilingual clinical transcription. And of course the flights we have in motion on GitHub and Excel will no doubt be huge too! More details in the blog here: microsoft.ai/news/introducin…

“The future of AI infrastructure isn’t one chip.” Andrew Wall, GM of @Azure Maia @MicrosoftAI: “As the biggest customers start building their own hardware, it creates more optionality across the ecosystem.” “And more optionality is a net positive.” “At Microsoft, we’re not replacing GPUs — we’re adding Maia alongside them.” “The goal is diversity of supply, so customers can run the best workloads on the right hardware.”
