I'm an intelligent, articulate, and learned human being with a mind of his own and above-average research skills. Why would I need to use ChatGPT or similar LLM-using systems? Truth is, I don't need them, so I don't use them. In my case, they're unneeded and unnecessary tech.
"OpenAI alone has one billion active monthly users..." Current world population is around 8.3 billion, so that's a bit less than 1/8th of the world's population. Let's round it up to 1/8th. Count me among the other 7/8ths.

Artists show your face and your art ✨ No, I'm no longer sharing unaltered selfies on social media, so you'll just have to deal with abstract me. I might have to create a drawing of abstract me sometime.

Honestly, if generative AI were to suddenly vanish tomorrow, it wouldn't change my life one iota. No, I take that back, my life would change for the better, since I'd no longer be constantly posting my negative opinions of generative AI and could get back to creating more art!

One day, when I was a teen, I went for a hike in the woods up to an escarpment on the top of the hill behind my parents' house. I was sitting on a rock and heard the loud swooshing of leaves coming toward my vantage point. Was so loud, thought it was a bear. 'Twas a porcupine!

One thing some Americans (especially on the right/red side of the political spectrum) fail to understand is that PEOPLE vote, NOT land. Political maps often make the US look very red, but much of that red area is but thinly populated compared to the areas that tend toward blue.

I've always thought adopting a unique look to be of importance to artists, but in this age of look-alike AI slop, looking unique will be of even greater importance. Those who go their own way, visually-speaking, will stand out and (hopefully) stand above all the AI slop.

I have such vivid images in my head (I may have hyperphantasia) when doing art that I cannot understand how artists with aphantasia are able to do art. I like to say that I do art to get the images out of my head and onto paper (or Bristol board).
Absolutely fascinating that artists can have this! When I draw I can visualise in my head what I want the finished piece to look like. It'd almost be like improvised drawing?

Last night, I actually took a break from both WEIRD VAMPIRE TALES and A MIDNIGHT TREASURY OF MACABRE AND WEIRD POEMS to read a bit in GERMAN HELICOPTERS 1928 - 1945 by Heinz J. Nowarra. It's a different topic, and those early helicopters were unusual-looking aircraft.
I've been going back-and-forth between (re)reading stories in WEIRD VAMPIRE TALES, edited by Robert Weinberg, Stefan R. Dziemianowicz, and Martin E. Greenberg, and reading poems in A MIDNIGHT TREASURY OF MACABRE AND WEIRD POEMS, edited by Ana Sampson.

It is Wednesday, so time for a roundup of what I've been reading. What are your current, recent, and future reads? iseultmurphy.com/www-wednesd…

Sadly, facts can be problematic in this Post-Fact Age.
I got suspended for pointing out a fact
