I added spherical deformation to the 3D depth rotation feature. For round objects it makes it faster to create the initial rotation. You know, for physics defying anime booba.

Depth rotation/3D rotation. R (Rotate) -> X/Z (Rotation Lock) -> CTRL+Scroll to adjust the Y offset. The rotation point can be offset from X/Z to get a starter rotation for things like the head.(Since our spines are roughly 3/4 back from the front of our faces.) #Umamo #Live2D

People falling over themselves for high end Neumann microphones is hilarious. I know someone with U67 and their audio sounds like over processed crap because it is set up poorly. Incidentally, all my Nuemann microphones have been sold or are in storage. (My mic in reply. ⤵️)

Twitter has decided to send me all the mic discourse now and I'm getting takes like "if you use a condenser mic you won't get CD quality sound if you don't spend a lot of money, like a Neumann U87" Seriously, no. That is nonsense and I've done recordings to prove it.

I'm using the Aston Origin for streaming. For instruments I have an AKG C414 XLS on a tall arm. They're in vastly different price brackets, but the AKG just handles loud toots better. I tried using my Neumann TLM 103 for streaming for a while, but it just wasn't working out.

I reverse engineered ARKit to learn how it works and bust the myths. It is a ML model that takes a 128x128 pixel RGB selfie and spits out the blend shapes, plus post-processing. I made it work on macOS, with any webcam. OpenVT mac builds coming soon. gist.github.com/hoshinolina/…

The code is frozen for the Umamo 0.5.0 release. Today I'm working on a sparse manual for this release since I'm expecting people to be more interested in actually rigging with this version. It's a lot of writing and screenshots to do so I will release it sometime this week!

OMG I looked up the "developer" on Twitch and they have a stream from TWO MONTHS AGO where they start with Rust "Hello world" level tutorials, then later magically switch to writing code for "their" project... ...by typing out entire files from top to bottom. And making typos.

Eight hours of take home tests. Three interview rounds. "We have decided to proceed with another candidate for the position at this time." 🤬😭 I wish I could work on Umamo full time. I actually enjoy that versus interviewing for the corporate grind.

I have been quiet about Umamo stuff for the past week. I'm actually doing some contract coding work for a game right now! I also had a successful first and second round interview for a new job!~ :D So that's why I'm quiet. Umamo will still get a 0.5.0 release soon.
