Extractive regimes can sometimes generate temporary or short-term growth by forcibly reallocating labor and capital into specific high-output sectors under central command, such as plantation agriculture or heavy industry. However, because this top-down allocation operates without inclusive markets, technological innovation, or creative destruction, such growth eventually hits structural limits, slows down, and inevitably collapses..
Quite the diplomatic spectacle!
Imagine trying to convince Canada to look beyond Trump’s America when Europe cannot even agree on what it is offering…
The EU was split today over whether to offer “associate membership” status to Canada, with several countries refusing to sign off on a statement containing that phrase just 48 hours before a summit between the two sides in Montreal.

Sometimes social media makes you wonder who to trust. You follow professionals because you want to learn, understand issues and make informed judgments. Then you see those with credentials making completely contradictory claims.
Here we have encouraging news about a cancer breakthrough, and suddenly there are suggestions that COVID vaccines caused the cancers these companies are now treating.
But wait a minute. COVID emerged in 2019. Cancer research has been going on for decades.
As an ordinary person trying to learn, how do you distinguish credible analysis from conspiracy theories when even individuals you expect to know better are contradicting one another?
Mbappé 2, Barcelona 1! The Special One has delivered! Mourinho knows exactly how to punish that Barcelona high line. Flick got his tactical lesson tonight. This is vintage José!

Barcelona 1-2 Real Madrid! Mourinho is giving Flick a tactical headache tonight. Barça have had spells of control, but Madrid keep finding ways to punish them. That high defensive line has been a gamble all evening. You simply cannot afford this much space against Madrid in El Clásico!

Cancer patients must take cancer care into their own hands - you cannot rely 100% on an Oncologist whose income depends on selling cancer drugs that don’t work.
Cancer patients who take matters into their own hands do much, much better than those who rely on Big Pharma to save them.
Had a patient recently come see me with Stage 4 metastatic colon cancer, at the young age of 37.
The majority of his treatment and surgeries were completed at MD Anderson in Houston, often ranked among the top Cancer hospitals in the world.
He sought me because his oncologist would not prescribe any ‘non-traditional’ medications like ivermectin, Fenbendazole, or Mebendazole.
Before you jump to conclusions and start rambling about anti-parasitic, let’s talk about how each of these works in the body.
Ivermectin works in cancer on WNT/TCF and PAK1→Akt/mTOR inhibition, mitochondrial respiratory suppression, chloride-driven hyperpolarization, and P2X4/P2X7-linked immunogenic cell death.
Fenbendazole works for cancer by impacting mitochondrial translocation of p53 and inhibition of glucose uptake, GLUT transporter expression, and hexokinase II, on top of moderate microtubule destabilization.
Mebendazole's main mechanisms regarding cancer are still β-tubulin binding, VEGFR2 inhibition, and Hedgehog inhibition. This in turn leads to reduced glutamine markers which have downstream effects.
[Notice I didn’t say anything about parasites there.
Feel free to show this tweet to someone who doesn’t know any better.]
The oncologist actually supported their use but likely due to ‘politics’ couldn’t personally prescribe them.
So instead of 1 doctor managing all of his cancer care, he has like 5.
Unfortunate but becoming increasingly common.
At the end of the care you have to be AN ADVOCATE for yourself.
If you don’t like the answers you are getting (in medicine), continue to seek out providers until you do.
David Eby had a majority government and 2 years left on his mandate. Ipsos had the NDP leading 45% to 35% before he called a snap election. Now the Conservatives have 64 seats to the NDP’s 27.
What fascinates me is the political miscalculation. The polls measured voter preferences before the election call. Eby then gave voters another issue to judge: why they were being sent back to the polls so early.
Within 2 days, 65% believed he was putting his political interests first.
He gambled on a stronger mandate and ended up handing government to an opposition that was falling apart weeks earlier.
I guess in Politics timing also matters.

All that possession, only to lose 3-0 at Old Trafford! These lads look completely unmotivated, with no urgency or fighting spirit. Reminds me of Chelsea under Enzo Maresca. I genuinely don’t know how Carrick explains this one. Something is seriously wrong with this team.

70 minutes. Bournemouth 3-0 Man United! 🤣🤣 Old Trafford is emptying already! Fans have seen enough, and at this rate, Carrick might be leaving with them. Three goals down at home, and the humiliation isn’t even over yet! GOODBYE, CARRICK!

Bournemouth 2-0 Man United! 🤣🤣 Fans are already heading for the exits at Old Trafford! Carrick might as well join them because I genuinely don’t see how he survives this one. The fans have seen enough, and so has the scoreboard. Carrick is GONE! 😂

PENDERS!!! What on earth was that punch?! For heaven’s sake! You had one job get that ball out of danger! you’ve practically handed Spurs a goal on a silver platter. @Chelsea have been dreadful enough today without gifting them goals! Come on, boys, WAKE UP!

Jackson 2. Maresca 1.
FINAL WHISTLE! Seven straight wins, a perfect record, and then Nicolas Jackson happened! Two goals, three points, and City’s unbeaten run goes straight into the bin. That boy delivered beyond my expectations! What a beautiful afternoon at Villa Park!

I’m hate-watching this Game for one reason: I desperately want Man City and their two-faced, bald-headed coach Enzo Maresca to LOSE! Nicolas Jackson, you absolute legend! Two goals! Villa, please finish the job. End that perfect record. Good riddance!

And the problem is, this is our chief economist and policy analyst. Whenever you challenge people like @rggoobi with the very basic economics they are supposed to know, their immediate deflection is to dismiss critics by claiming that social media is just full of wiseacres… non the less we are here and wondering..
How does a whole Permanent Secretary and Secretary to the Treasury conveniently ignore the demand pull trap on local staples? I mean that is introductory microeconomics. When millions of struggling urban households get priced out of imported wheat, rice, and pasta, they all substitute toward local alternatives aint this obvious? But at the exact same time. The market demand curve for sweet potatoes, cassava, and maize shifts sharply outward. Because agricultural supply cannot magically expand overnight, that sudden surge in demand triggers domestic food inflation. Local staples do not stay cheap. The tragic result is that ordinary families end up priced out of the spaghetti, and then priced out of the cassava you are condescendingly telling them to eat.
To make matters worse, sweet potatoes and cassava do not fly to Nakasero or Kalerwe market on their own. They move on trucks burning expensive fuel in an economy where the shilling has been battered by the dollar. Transport markups alone guarantee that the rural food you claim is affordable arrives in town with an unaffordable price tag.
The real issue is that state officials have grown comfortable outsourcing national survival to ordinary citizens, relying on the fact that Ugandans will quietly absorb massive shocks through the informal, subsistence economy. While the top leadership enjoys taxpayer funded fuel allowances, state paid security, and fully insulated government perks, the public is expected to miraculously feed themselves from non existent backyard gardens Isn’t your mandate to manage the monetary system, defend purchasing power, and protect the economy from destructive volatility? Telling hungry citizens to change their diet because you failed to stabilize the shilling is not sound economic guidance; it is just being hopelessly out of touch.
Someone left this beautiful piece of #Uganda on my desk today. Such a thoughtful gesture!
Our flag, the crested crane, and the shape of our country, all captured in a cookie. Almost too beautiful to eat!
I went looking for the baker and found the design on Instagram. Beautiful work by
perfectly sweet baker.

Bayern, are you freaking serious?! 😭😭 The ONE time I decide to support you, not because I like you, but purely out of my hatred for Arsenal, and you freaking fumble it?! 2-2?! I wasn’t asking for much. JUST BEAT ARSENAL! What a waste of my hate-watching! 😭💀😂
