Free this and free that, it’s design is innately predatory, it hides odds and chances, can be changed at a whim for people to get it, spread word, and incentive people to waste hours, at times they might have it disabled, it’s scummy and harmful, abhorrent business practice.
This Pirate Shop Token really has players so upset, they're hoping the FTC takes action. Well, here are a few things to note:
+ The Pirate Shop Access Token does NOT require any purchase to find.
+ Everyone is given an equal chance of finding it.
+ Anyone can find the Pirate Shop Token.
+ Whether the odds are known or not, it does not take away from the hunt being equal for all players.
+ Players are not forced to play Fortnite.
+ Players should be held accountable for their own self control. If they can't get off the game, or become addicted, that's not on the responsibility of Epic Games.
+ FOMO has been a part of the game since the very beginning with item shops, new seasons, etc.
+ Fortnite is a FREE game, giving out a FREE prize.
I can understand why players are frustrated that they are not finding the Pirate Shop Token, but going the length of saying the FTC should get involved is a bit much. However, if Fortnite locked the token behind the battle pass, that would be different. The token is free, anyone can find, and if you're getting too frustrated you can always choose to not play the game or hunt for the token.
I'm sure there can be an argument made for "manipulative marketing tactics" to lure players onto the game, but I think it would be pretty hard for anyone to really make a solid case against Epic Games.
Anyways, I'll be searching for the token in the meantime. Happy hunting everyone!
As a community we have the right to heavy compensation, such scummy business tactics can’t got undressed nor without repercussions, it’s paints a picture allowing this behaviour from epic.

🚨 FORTNITE TREASURE HUNTERS GAME FILES REVEAL A MAJOR PROBLEM WITH PIRATE SHOP ACCESS.
New findings from build 43.00 expose how Fortnite's Treasure Hunt rewards are handled behind the scenes, and the lack of transparency is ridiculous.
🏴☠️ PIRATE SHOP ACCESS IS TREATED DIFFERENTLY.
Out of all 16 rewards, Pirate Shop Access (DelilahTreasure_6) is the ONLY prize configured as PreRollOnly.
Every other reward uses AttemptPreRoll.
But that's not even the most concerning part.
⚠️ SERVER CONTROLLED PRIZE INVENTORIES
The files reveal that rewards are distributed through server prize pools containing:
⏰ Start and end times
📦 StartingInventory
📉 RemainingInventory
🎁 Separate Regular and Power Hour prize lists
This raises a MASSIVE question.
Can players spend hours opening chests while Pirate Shop Access is unavailable in the active prize pool or its inventory is exhausted?
The files don't reveal the remaining stock or confirm whether these limits apply globally or per match.
🔍 HOW CHEST ROLLS WORK
The game requests a prize roll when a player first interacts with a Treasure Hunt chest, or when the chest is destroyed before being opened.
This does NOT prove that a Pirate Shop token is assigned to a specific chest when the match starts.
It does, however, show that prize selection involves server-controlled systems that players cannot see.
Players are grinding hundreds or even thousands of chests without knowing the actual odds, available prize inventory or how Pirate Shop's exclusive pre-roll behavior affects their chances.
Epic needs to explain this system.
How much inventory is available? Can it run out? What exactly does PreRollOnly change
For one of Fortnite's most valuable rewards, this level of uncertainty is unacceptable.
