Last night at the Beacon Board of Education meeting, Grace Roscino and Mike Moran were appointed head coaches for Beacon Indoor + Outdoor Track and Field. I’m disappointed to not be continuing in that role but both Grace and Mike bring passion and enthusiasm to the team.

I can certainly attest to the fact that “the cupboard has not been left empty”. With a returning state champion in the pent, a top miler and 2 miler, and a 4x800 set to go under 8 minutes, I’m really looking forward to seeing what they accomplish this year!

Wow. What a crazy week. Six days ago, I had the absolute thrill of watching my 8th NYS Champion ascend the podium. Today I had the gut wrenching experience of learning that apparently I won’t be appointed to the coaching position next year. The only reason? A matter of principle.

None of this is to begrudge any other sport their long overdue raise. In my opinion, all coaches are woefully underpaid. But to throw a 50.9% raise at many sports and a 16.7% raise at Spring Track (18.7% at Cross Country) over the 4 years and then refusing to discuss errors?😳

In my opinion, the data is deeply flawed. And no one will fix it. So here I sit, standing on the principle of the matter, refusing to let the most popular sport in Beacon be treated as a 2nd class sport while I watch my Beacon coaching career apparently come to an end🥲
