I joined @BICMagazine to discuss policies that will help keep America the best place to make things: TSCA reauthorization by Dec. 11, permitting reform, smart trade policy, and preserving our energy and feedstock advantage. #ChemistryCreates Watch now: bicmagazine.com/media/videos….

Fertilizer through Hormuz has dropped to zero. No fertilizer cargoes crossing the strait in September or October. Before the war, about 20% of the world’s traded nitrogen fertilizer went through it, Fertilizer Daily reports. The Gulf also supplies about half of the world’s traded sulfur. Hear me out: urea isn’t the problem. China raised its nitrogen exports about 47% and the US about 60%. By the end of August urea was back to its January price, IFPRI data shows. Sulfur is the problem. It has more than doubled, to above $1,000 a tonne, and phosphate is up 25–30%. You need sulfur to make phosphate fertilizer. Mosaic has idled two Louisiana plants, and India’s fertilizer subsidy bill could pass 3 trillion rupees, against 1.71 trillion budgeted. Oil found other ways out of the Gulf. Sulfur hasn’t. source: World Visualized

Energy crisis? What crisis? US natural gas benchmark price falls to ~$2.5 per mBtu, approaching a fresh 2-year low.

CHART OF THE DAY: The price of natural gas in the US 🇺🇸 and Europe 🇪🇺. Now, imagine running a gas-intensive company (say, a fertilizer plant) in either region. Europe >$30; US <$3

🚨Qatar, sitting on the world's largest gas field, just signed up to buy big volumes of American #LNG through 2054. Let that sink in. To paraphrase Ronald Reagan's 1984 campaign ad, It's Morning in America's LNG Industry. Key points: • Cheniere signed deals to supply @QatarEnergyLNG with up to 4 million tonnes a year from #SabinePass in Louisiana and Corpus Christi in Texas. Deliveries start in 2031. • Reuters reports Qatar is also in advanced talks with @Venture_Global for at least 3 million more tonnes a year. • Why? With #Hormuz largely blocked and Ras Laffan damaged, the world's #2 LNG exporter is buying a hedge on the U.S. Gulf Coast. • The price gap is enormous. Asian spot LNG hit $29.30/MMBtu last week, while Henry Hub sits around $2.84. That's roughly 10 to 1. • U.S. LNG feedgas demand topped a record 20 Bcf/d on Oct. 19 as Golden Pass ramps up. • And the fear that exports would drive up U.S. prices? It was never anything more than a leftwing talking point. Not happening. Storage is 35 Bcf above the five-year average, and Henry Hub is under $3. The lesson here is simple: when even your competitors sign 20-plus-year contracts for your product, the debate is over. American #naturalgas isn't a short-lived "bridge fuel." It's the backbone of global energy security, and the world's buyers are voting with their checkbooks. There is no #energytransition. There is #energyaddition, and American gas is leading it. [Full breakdown in today's Energy Additions – Link in the next post.]

Denmark spent decades building nearly 5,000 wind turbines Together, they produced 21.6 TWh in the last 12 months One nuclear plant in Sweden made 23.3 TWh Oh, and nuclear runs 24/7 — wind doesn’t There's one big reason Denmark has some of the most expensive electricity in the world transparency.entsoe.eu/gener… api.energidataservice.dk/dat… eia.gov/electricity/monthly/… iaea.org/publications/16059
Fun fact: Sweden has four nuclear reactors that have each generated more electricity than all Danish wind turbines ever. Forsmark 3 and Oskarshamn 3 started in 1985, the year Denmark banned nuclear. Both still ahead of Denmark’s entire wind fleet.

Let’s get this permitting reform passed! Not many issues that are truly this bipartisan.
A major coalition is lining up behind permitting reform. API joined 137 organizations in urging Congress to pass the Bipartisan American Affordability and Jobs Act this year.

Before: tankers filled Iran’s main oil-loading terminal. After: no crude tankers in sight. Kharg Island is now nothing more than a monument to the one thing the Iranian regime can still produce: failure. The regime’s arrogance and belligerence continue to punish ordinary Iranians. Operation Economic Outcast is cutting off the regime’s oil lifeline, denying it resources to fund terrorism, nuclear procurement, and the lavish lifestyles of the IRGC elite.

Texas is getting a grid upgrade thanks to @POTUS! 🇺🇸⚡️ @SecretaryWright: “These funds are allocated with a focus on making the electrical grid more resilient…just focusing on common sense, making energy more robust."

Today, in New York, @ENERGY announced Defense Production Act funding to advance the Constitution Pipeline project. After 10+ years of the Democrats’ energy subtraction policies stifling projects that would dramatically lower costs, @POTUS is advancing an energy addition agenda.

Crude oil exports out of the Persian Gulf are almost back to pre-war levels based on data from the great team at @TankerTrackers. Reason oil prices aren't down is IRGC attacks on ships, which have spiked shipping costs. Time to shut IRGC gunboats down... robinjbrooks.substack.com/p/…

If you think Democrats care about lowering the price of gas, just remember that on Day One of the Biden admin, two of the first things they did were cancel the Keystone XL pipeline and halt all new oil and gas leases.
