Starting with Dr Luigia D’Errico on quantifying mitral valve disease and ventricular remodelling with CMR!
A great session today from Professor @fairbairn_tim on the Basics of Cardiac MRI 🫀
From the fundamentals of CMR through to tissue characterisation, perfusion, viability and valve assessment.
Here are some of our key take-home messages 👇
CMR does more than detect infarction.
Oedema imaging, early enhancement and late gadolinium enhancement can provide information on acute injury, microvascular obstruction, scar burden and myocardial viability
The overarching message from today:
Good CMR starts with the right clinical question.
Choose the appropriate protocol, acquire high-quality images, quantify carefully and interpret in the clinical context.
Thanks Professor Fairbairn for an excellent session.

Happy Friday Imagers!
What an odd looking aortic valve!🫀
What do we think is going on here?🧐

1/6 🫀 Another excellent session in our BSCI/BSCCT x RCR cardiac imaging series.
Dr @james_shambrook took us through the imaging of coronary artery disease - from anatomy and ischaemia to CT-FFR, plaque burden and risk.
Key takeaways 👇

And increasingly, it’s not just about the “worst” stenosis.
CT can show the overall burden of coronary atherosclerosis, including non-obstructive plaque that may be missed by a purely functional approach.
That can create an opportunity for earlier preventative treatment.

Struggling to see mechanical valves on echo? 👀
Think cardiac CT.
Just look at those cines… 😍
A great example of multimodality imaging at work. 🫀
