In my @BSidesBelfast 2026 keynote, "Fantastic Malmons and How to Analyze Them", I talked about analyzing malware by borrowing concepts from the natural sciences, and about bridging the gap between art, science, literature, and cybersecurity by using artistic expression to communicate technical ideas. I also spoke about something that has been on my mind lately: old books are being bought up and destroyed at scale to feed AI training pipelines. If you walk into a secondhand bookshop and find something that piques your interest, buy it, read it, learn from it, preserve it, and pass that knowledge on. There is a real chance you will never come across that copy again. It was wonderful to see my @NoStarch "The (Un)Natural History of Malware" @DEFCON edition book, the Magistr Malmons watercolour, stickers, and more all contribute to raising over £1,000 for @mariecurieuk Hospice via the charity auction. It reminded me of the power of the cybersecurity community, and of the amazing things we can make happen together. The final edition of "The (Un)Natural History of Malware" is scheduled for 2027 (nostarch.com/unnatural-histo…). Stay tuned!
