𝐀𝐧 𝐄𝐧𝐝 𝐭𝐨 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐄𝐧𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐜𝐞𝐝 𝐃𝐢𝐬𝐚𝐩𝐩𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐁𝐚𝐥𝐨𝐜𝐡 𝐖𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐧 Baloch Women Forum strongly condemns the enforced disappearance of 19-year-old Laiba Sattar, an FSc student from Kalat, who was forcibly disappeared on the night of 29 March 2026 at the hands of a state backed death squad. Her continued disappearance constitutes a grave violation of fundamental human rights and underscores the urgent need to end the systematic targeting of Baloch women through enforced disappearances. From Habiba to Nasreena, Mahjabeen and Laiba Sattar, the names of disappeared Baloch women reflect a deeply concerning human rights crisis. Behind every name is a life disrupted, a family left without answers and a community burdened by uncertainty and fear. The enforced disappearance of women violates the fundamental principles of human dignity, personal liberty and the rule of law. No individual should be deprived of their liberty outside the protection of the law and no family should be left without information about the whereabouts or fate of a loved one. The absence of accountability must not become the norm and the suffering of affected families must not be met with silence. Baloch Women Forum demands the immediate disclosure of Laiba Sattar’s whereabouts, effective guarantees for her safety and the release of all disappeared Baloch women or their prompt presentation before a competent court in accordance with the law. We further call for independent and impartial investigations into all cases of enforced disappearance, accountability for those responsible and an end to the harassment and intimidation of families seeking truth and justice. We urge international human rights bodies, women’s rights organizations and relevant United Nations mechanisms to give urgent attention to this continuing crisis and press for effective measures to protect the rights of Baloch women. Baloch Women Forum stands in solidarity with every family demanding answers and justice. Enforced disappearance must never be accepted as an unavoidable reality for Baloch women. Every woman has the right to liberty, dignity and legal protection. Their cases must not be forgotten, their families must not be abandoned and their right to truth and justice must be upheld. A woman was crying somewhere outside. I stepped out and saw her in the distance, bent over a grave, her sorrow rising like smoke. I walked toward her, but before reaching her, I stumbled upon a heartbreaking sight, hundreds of headposts scattered across the ground. The symbolic graves of Baloch martyrs, once standing with carved names, now uprooted and thrown aside by the authorities. They fear the dead as much as the living. They believe if they erase the graves, they will erase the memory. But such acts do not kill memory, they harden it. Every desecrated grave is a wound that refuses to heal. I walked past the fallen headposts and reached the woman whose grief had pulled me from the silence of the mosque. Her face was tired, carved by years of sorrow. She clutched the earth as if holding on to the last piece of her heart. When I asked gently who she was mourning, she told me through her tears that she sat by the grave of her only son, killed by the state authorities. She cried not just for him but for the life she had lost with him, for the world that had turned its back on her, for the land where even the dead are not allowed to rest. One could wonder why these people do not come out and protest for their rights, when their men are missing, their basic needs unmet, their homes crumbling, their children growing up in dust instead of dignity. But the truth is harsher than any assumption. They are denied even the right to protest. Fear is not just imposed here, it is internalized, stitched into their memories, their gestures, their silences. They have been conditioned so deeply that the very thought of raising their voice feels like stepping into a grave. Even if someone were to offer to protest on their behalf, they would still shrink back in terror. One might wonder, what life are they clinging to? A life so stripped of comfort that even suffering seems constant. But it is not the fragile life they fear losing. They fear the process of life being taken from them. The slow poisoning of dignity. The terror of dungeon cells. The unseen tortures. The humiliation that crushes a person long before death touches them. 𝗥𝗲𝗮𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗹𝗲𝘁𝗲 𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗹𝗲 𝗮𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗸 𝗯𝗲𝗹𝗼𝘄: balochwomenforum.org/chronic…

For decades, Baloch families have been denied the most basic right to know the fate and whereabouts of their loved ones who have been forcibly disappeared. The escalating abduction and enforced disappearance of Baloch women is particularly alarming. Women are increasingly being disappeared from their homes and subjected to the same system of repression that has devastated generations of Baloch families. The targeting of women represents a grave escalation and demonstrates that repression has extended into the most intimate spaces of civilian life. The abduction of a woman is not an isolated violation, it is an assault on her dignity, her family and the fundamental security of an entire community. Baloch youth, students, political activists, journalists, human rights defenders and intellectuals continue to face enforced disappearance, arbitrary detention, imprisonment and extrajudicial violence. Baloch intellectuals and political voices remain behind bars for expressing their views and peacefully advocating for the rights of their people. The continued criminalization of dissent has created an environment in which freedom of expression and political participation are met with detention, disappearance and repression. Enforced disappearance destroys far more than the life of the person taken. It leaves families in permanent uncertainty and subjects them to years of psychological suffering. Mothers wait for their sons and daughters, children grow up without their parents and families are forced to search endlessly for answers while those responsible remain beyond accountability. Baloch Women Forum demands the immediate disclosure of the whereabouts of all forcibly disappeared persons, the release of all individuals detained without lawful grounds and an immediate end to arbitrary detention and extrajudicial killings. Every detainee must be presented before an independent and competent court and guaranteed due process, legal representation and a fair and transparent trial. We call upon the United Nations, international human rights mechanisms and the international community to take urgent and concrete action regarding the continuing crisis of enforced disappearances in Balochistan particularly the escalating targeting of Baloch women. International silence must not become a shield for impunity. On this International Day, Baloch Women Forum remembers every disappeared Baloch and stands firmly with every family still waiting for a loved one. The disappeared must not be forgotten, their names must not be erased and their families must not be abandoned. Baloch Women Forum strongly condemns the enforced disappearance of 17-year-old Shahnaz, 14-year-old Sharanaz and 50-year-old Arif Essa who were forcibly disappeared from their home in Singabad Karki, Kech. Both Shahnaz and Sharanaz are students and have previously been subjected to enforced disappearance. The repeated abduction of minors is a grave and deeply disturbing violation of their fundamental rights. The disappearance of two school-going girls from their home together with an elderly father is not merely an attack on three individuals, it is an assault on the security and dignity of a Baloch family. The increasing abduction of Baloch women and girls particularly students and minors represents a deeply alarming escalation in the use of enforced disappearance as a tool of repression. Families are being deprived of their loved ones without explanation, without judicial oversight and without any information about their safety or whereabouts. No authority has the right to place civilians outside the protection of the law. Baloch Women Forum demands the immediate disclosure of the whereabouts of Shahnaz, Sharanaz and Arif Essa and their safe and unconditional release. If the authorities allege any offence, they must be brought before a competent and independent court and afforded due process and legal representation. We call upon human rights organizations and international institutions to urgently raise this case and demand an end to the systematic targeting of Baloch women, children, students and families through enforced disappearance. The abduction of women and children must not be normalized and those responsible must be held accountable. #SaveBalochWomen

Baloch Women Forum unequivocally condemns the enforced disappearance of 20-year-old Safia Baloch, who was forcibly disappeared from Quetta by security forces in the early hours of 23 August 2026. The abduction of a young woman and the deliberate concealment of her whereabouts constitute a grave violation of her fundamental rights and a direct assault on the rule of law. Enforced disappearance cannot be permitted to become a normalized instrument of repression. Safia’s disappearance has placed her family in unbearable uncertainty while denying her the most basic legal protections. Disappearing a woman without judicial oversight, disclosing her whereabouts or providing her family with access constitutes an egregious abuse of power and a grave violation of fundamental rights. Baloch Women Forum rejects the use of abduction, arbitrary detention and enforced disappearance as tools of intimidation and political control. No authority is above the law, and no woman can simply be erased from public and legal protection. We demand the immediate and unconditional disclosure of Safia Baloch’s whereabouts, guarantees for her safety and unrestricted access for her family. If authorities claim any lawful grounds for holding her, she must be brought immediately before an independent and competent court and afforded full due process. Otherwise, she must be released without delay. Safia Baloch must not be disappeared into silence. Her family has the right to know the truth and the international community must not allow the normalization of the abduction of Baloch women. #SaveBalochWomen
