This bill allows many construction projects to destroy archaeology in America without any prior investigation Urge your elected reps to change it or vote against it
One of the first things the new Congress should do is pass legislation that requires CLARITY OF TITLE and INTENT of all bills - especially with Omnibus bills loaded with pork. Case in point, the Senate is voting Monday on a bill that's called "Bipartisan Affordability and Jobs Act." Sounds good right? That bill allows this corrupt administration to make all destructive permits they've issued on our protected lands PERMANENT, and legally irreversible. Republicans will destroy it all.

An awful bill, referred to as “BAAJA,” is on the verge of becoming law. It would gut environmental protections to favor rapid expansion of data centers & related energy infrastructure. Senator Mike Lee (UT) is one of its chief architects. Tell your senators & reps to oppose it.

🚨 URGENT: The Senate votes Monday on a bill that would make permits on our public lands nearly impossible for ANY future president to undo. And Trump's admin is still handing them out on those very lands right now. They're calling it the permitting bill, and it's a sneaky one. It's far worse than the name sounds. Any permit still in effect on September 16, 2026 gets shielded, no matter who issued it or when. Older permits count too, even decades old, if they're still active. So does every one Trump's admin signs from here on. The thing I want you to understand is this. Federal oil and gas leases don't expire as long as they keep producing. A lease signed in the 70s or 80s is still in effect today if it's still producing. Earthjustice warns this bill makes leases like that "virtually impossible to overturn." To change or cancel a permit, a future admin would have to prove it by "clear and convincing evidence." Only five reasons count: 1. A court orders it. 2. The permit holder broke the law. 3. The permit was obtained through fraud. 4. The permit holder asks for it. 5. An urgent threat to life, property, or national security the original review missed. If none apply, the permit stays. Locked in. Trumped in. If a judge finds the government botched the environmental review under the National Environmental Policy Act, the judge can order a redo. But the judge can't cancel the permit or stop the project. The bulldozers keep running during the redo. Tribes don't get a say until AFTER agencies have already made up their minds about work on their ancestral lands and sacred sites. Two Democrats, Sen. Martin Heinrich (D-N.M.), top Democrat on the Senate Energy Committee, and Sen. Sheldon Whitehouse (D-R.I.), signed on to the bill Sen. Shelley Moore Capito (R-W.Va.) introduced, with Sen. Mike Lee (R-Utah). Voters just handed Democrats Congress. Two of them put their names on a bill that locks in Trump's permits anyway. This sitting Congress is trying to push it through Monday. Please call your members of Congress today. We don't have much time. I've tagged the four senators behind this. Let them know how you feel about it by saying no to the bill to your MOC. Thank you for standing up for our public lands. #DemsUnited 📷 Hart Van Denburg / CPR News

Mississippi's Senate race is still uncalled: Democrat Scott Colom leads Sen. Cindy Hyde-Smith by 2,574 votes (49.1% to 48.8%) with ~97% counted. Thousands of affidavit and mail ballots remain; results must be certified by Nov. 13. (Source: CNN)

Mount St. Helens had some unexpected rooftop visitors! 🐐 Five mountain goats were spotted hanging out on the roof of the Johnstone Ridge Observatory, enjoying a pretty spectacular view of Mount St. Helens. The observatory has been inaccessible to vehicles since May 2023, when a landslide destroyed the SR 504 Bridge. With fewer human visitors, it looks like the goats have claimed the prime viewing spot! 🗻 #WAwx

The more I learn about the insane relationship between the Trump Administration, Chinese spies, and AI billionaires, the more I’m convinced there is nothing this administration does that isn’t corrupt. Congress will investigate and get answers.

Maryland needs stronger menhaden protection now!! We also need to restore more of our wetlands & remove the invasive plants from our wetlands that serve no purpose for our local insect or fish or bird populations.
🚨 A red alarm bell is sounding for Ospreys along the Atlantic Coast! From Massachusetts to South Carolina, Ospreys nesting in saltwater habitats are experiencing widespread breeding failures. ABC is calling for stronger menhaden protections: abcbirds.info/3UzDMdD

This is terrible anti environmental bill that should be paused for this year. 400 pages negotiated behind closed doors by 4 senators. They would have benefitted from even 1 public hearing @politico @IndivisibleTeam @SenSchumer @RepJeffries @JaredHuffman

Everyone is talking about who would make a great Speaker, so I am going to wade in with a few great choices. First up is Reverend Warnock. If he can manage a congregation, he can manage Congress & bring dignity, morality & gravitas back to the House, not to mention great oratory.

Second up is Colorado's Jason Crow. A lawyer & former Army veteran, he is smart, steady & wasn't afraid to stand up to trump & Hegseth when he filmed a video about our troops not obeying illegal orders. He would make a great Speaker.

.@SenatorHeinrich is not telling the truth. This is the most anti environmental bill in recent history and should be rejected. It will lock in more fossil fuels which is the more expensive than renewables. @SenSchumer @RepJeffries @JaredHuffman @NPR @Reuters @AP @axios
Americans spoke clearly this week that they want their elected representatives focused on affordability. We have legislation that would reduce household electricity bills by billions of dollars by making it easier to build clean energy projects. Let's get it done and pass BAAJA.
