In a country like Canada, everyone should have the ability to keep a roof over their heads and meet their basic needs. It's time for a national conversation about a basic income, and I want our government to lead that conversation. #BasicIncome #cdnpoli

This is such a simple concept. The earth belongs to everyone and so do the sun, the air and the water. We applaud those who improve on these and earn the fruit of their labor. But they don't own these resources, we all do - and we have to be remunerated. That's UBI.
My life does not belong to you. My life is mine. You don't get to support a system of private property that forces me to obtain money to exist, and tell me I don't have a right to enough money to exist. UBI is not my request. It's my demand. It's indemnification for civilization.

Wow. A universal basic income (guaranteed annual income) was what my father recommended as a primary way to eradicate poverty. This is a powerful step forward. #MLK @MichaelDTubbs @AndrewYang
Mayors in L.A. and 6 other U.S. cities said they will work to launch universal basic income pilot programs—a growing sign that political leaders are beginning to take the idea of guaranteed income seriously in the wake of the pandemic on.forbes.com/6012GOCw0 by @rachsandl

I have long believed that UBI would help address generational poverty. When @AndrewYang entered the race, I was encouraged to see him elevate this on the national stage. Though no longer running, I am glad that he encouraged us all to think again. Respect to the gang. #MATH

I appreciate the way Andrew lifted up the idea of a basic income and talked about the brutal nature of our economy on people and humanity. I never thought we were launched our basic income pilot in 2017, that a Presidential candidate would be talking about the concept.
I am so proud of this campaign. Thank you to everyone who got us here. 🙏

Really sad Andrew is dropping out. He’s an incredibly authentic person who was focused on solving the big existential problems facing the world. Thank you Andrew for bringing universal basic income back into the national conversation. It’s well overdue. #yanggangforever

You ran a great race, @AndrewYang. Your campaign focused on the future, and looked like you were having a lot of fun doing it. Thank you for bringing up ideas like UBI and opening a discourse on how we better value undervalued work like caregiving.

"UBI will win eventually… The struggle doesn’t end until justice wins. Justice doesn’t win until the privileged stop telling the poor what to do so we can end the powerlessness that makes so many people in the world weak, vulnerable, and marginalized." basicincome.org/news/2020/02…

Universal basic income may sound like science fiction, but it's no fantasy. It's a floor on which to stand, an inheritance we're owed, a share in our society, a dividend that pays through our whole lives... Video by @JamesTreakle: youtube.com/watch?v=Dwsl8AE2… xitter.cf/JamesTreakle/status/11…

"Why not have one universal basic subsidy that covers everything (perhaps except health and education) and let people decide how they will spend it, rather than trying to target subsidies based on our imperfect knowledge of what people need and deserve?” —Banerjee, Nobel laureate
