Sitting here watching Arkansas, the #1 team in the country. Their hitters have bought into a 2 strike approach. They put great at bats together by choking up and widening out to put the ball in play! They are bought in to doing it for their teammates.

It’s not just where the ball is that determines whether or not you can advance. It’s also how the ball is caught.
When the fielder is moving away from where he has to throw, that’s a window for an extra base. You just have to have the courage to take it.

Baseball recipe for success: Pitchers- throw strikes, hitters- hit when people are on base, fielders- make routine plays. Recipe for disaster- DONT do those things.

Good time to remind everyone that the most important pitch you will ever throw is the NEXT one! The most important swing you will ever take is the NEXT one and the most important defensive play you will make is the NEXT one!

Note for all high school pitchers who might see this...We do not Throw to get Loose. Prepare your bodies and mind for catch play. You should have a sweat going before ever picking up a ball. Attention to detail will be key if you want to make it far in this game @FlatgroundApp

THE BATTLE AB.
These are the absolute best. Watching a hitter battle a pitcher for TWENTY TWO pitches is the epitome of competition. Mechanics? Out the window. Approach? Out of mind.
One guy versus another.
This may be the most exciting walk of all time:

If you only look at where the ball is, there is no way anyone even thinks about scoring.
If you look at HOW the infielder catches the ball going back, in no position to throw, that may be your green light to go.

GLOVE ANGLE: a tiny detail that makes a big difference. It’s a non-teach for most but should be a must-teach for all.
With the fingers down, palm facing the plate, the glove is as big as possible. When infielders catch raindrops, they are making a small glove, smaller. #STdrills

Great video to emulate here
✅Lindor getting slightly to the right of the ball to read hops
✅Staying staggered (feet) to give him adjustability w/ his L foot!!
✅Also notice how quiet his glove is throughout the GB (little movement)

BASERUNNING IS A WEAPON.
It is also the game’s most detailed skill where someone as simple as the route you run from home to 1st may be the difference between being out or safe... a run or a zero... a win or a loss. All because of a good turn.

This is what barrelability looks like.
So many hitters spend SO much time trying to perfect their swing mechanics that they build a single-plane swing. The ability to manipulate the barrel to the ball in all parts of the zone is the epitome of hitting.

POP-FLY PRIORITY begins with the expectation that the ball is yours if it is anywhere in your zip code. Call it only when you know you can catch it, and then the priority takes over when two guys call it.
OF > INF > C > P
CF > RF/LF
MIF > CIF

IF YOU CAN’T PLAY CATCH, YOU CAN’T PLAY.
Playing catch is THE most important fundamental skill of the game. Generally speaking, the teams that play catch the best are the teams that win the most because they know how to take care of the ball.

Catchers love their pop times. But a quick pop time isn’t all about the arm; it’s just as much about the feet. Quicker feet = quicker throw.
When you drill and focus on your footwork, your times will get better, even without making the throw.

Sometimes the ground ball tells the infielder to field it on the run in order to create a good hop. But that doesn’t mean you have to throw it on the run... especially if you have time.
This is textbook run and replace (the feet) technique.
