Unai Emery on whether Nicolas Jackson can get to Harry Kane's level one day: "I believe through the work, through mentality, through being very consistent every day in his ambition and demands. I think he’s an intelligent guy, he’s a player focusing on football like he needs. So we will see. But I am optimsitic and I believe he can do it." [@J_Tanswell]

Karlheinz Wild on why he placed Harry Kane only third: "Because Rodri had the most valuable impact as a team player, and that in the most important competition, the World Cup. And because Mbappé was the top scorer in all three competitions. And the Ballon d'Or in the team sport of football is, after all, a hit parade of individual talents" Karlheinz Wild on why he placed Michael Olise is only eighth: "He was an attraction in the Bundesliga. At the World Cup he set a record with seven assists, but - a malus - he remained without a goal" [@kicker]

Hansi Flick on Harry Kane winning the Ballon d'Or and Lamine Yamal's reaction: "I think Harry Kane deserved to win. You know my opinion about Lamine. I think he's on this level to win this trophy too. But what I can see is that, after I said this to him and to the team, the words he said after the trophy about Pau Cubarsí were great for me. It was clear. Pau normally deserved to win this trophy because Lamine had it the last 2 seasons, he won it too, and for me it's the best sign to give Pau Cubarsí this trophy because he played an unbelievable last season and also an excellent World Cup. It's about that. But what I see and what I can feel, I'm very proud of Lamine, because he reacts very well in my opinion. And what I see in training too, he's very focused. This is the way champions respond. He's doing a good job at the moment and I'm very happy that he's on this way. This mentality is really good for the team too. So it's perfect. We have accepted it and I'm happy that it's over. Now we can focus on the things that are very important for us"

Jamal Musiala will not be fit in time for the game against BVB. His injury is healing well, but a return to the squad is too early and also unrealistic for Tuesday's Champions League game against Atlético Madrid. All parties agree he should be built up as carefully as possible [@kerry_hau]

Aaron Danks on whether his coaching style differs from Vincent Kompany's: "I think there are differences. Vince was clear with us that he didn't want his assistant coaches to be mini Vinnies and everybody doing the exact same thing all the time, so we're all different, but we all complement each other. The analogy that I use with the coaching staff is the zebra and the ostrich. They live together in the savanna and have this mutual relationship. The zebra has really good hearing and sense of smell, but his eyesight's not great. If he smells or hears something, he goes and the ostrich follows. But the ostrich has really big eyes and incredible eyesight. If he sees something and goes, the zebra follows. We've got to be zebras and ostriches. We can't all have the same opinion. We can't all have the same view of things. We have to look at it slightly differently. We try to do that as a coaching staff. Every training session, one of us works on the attack, the other one on the defence. One of us works with the midfield players, one with the attackers, whatever it may be. We have different perspectives, then we come together, have our discussions and end up finding our solutions. Vince fits into that in terms of his leadership style and his experience as an ex-professional player, and he gives us some really good perspectives from that as well. Not too much has changed in terms of the training sessions. They're super competitive. It's a lot about us against us. It's about Harry Kane versus Upamecano. It's about them competing every day in training sessions. And we have lots of fun out on the training grass"

Max Eberl on his contact with Joshua Kimmich and whether he is ready to return: "Yes, of course I've been in contact with Jo [Kimmich], and life is different for him now, we don't need to make a secret of that. When something like this happens in the family, life changes. But we will give him all the support. I think we're living that right now. We're not just talking, we're giving the support we can. And if Jo feels ready and dives into this everyday life, in quotation marks, this new everyday life, and he feels ready, then I'm fairly sure - because that's not my responsibility - that the coaching staff will think it over together with Jo, whether it's the right time for tomorrow, whether it fits. But life is different for Jo, to some extent. You simply have to state that"
