And to think 40 days ago we were concerned about terminating cover crops to preserve moisture??
Will count our blessing in the area I cover along Hwy 20.. to the north and south of us much wetter. Some areas wettest 35-40 days on record!
Time to prioritize corn planting and save your soybeans for last…

Folks wondering about "planting b 4 the rain" Going 2 b warm rain & stay warm. If long range forecast accurate, corn will b up b4 soil dries out to form crust. 10 day ECMWF & 16 Day GFS showing lot of H2O potentially coming. Keep planting if soil fit!
Excellent opportunity for someone to work with a great group of sales reps with some of the most diverse soils in Iowa! Grateful for all the experiences I gained in this role!!

Planning on planting this weekend?? With upper 70's & low 80's w/humidity for Saturday/Sunday... cold seed will tend to have moisture condensation & flowability issues. Get seed into you shop & warm it up as much as possible to reduce issues. Be generous with talc!!!

Bean size difference from 2023 (left) & 2022 in NE IA.!! Same plot, same variety. 2022 yield was 83.6. Bean size is a large contributor to yield. Differences like this is why pod counting can be so inaccurate.
