The only difference between Cody Campbell and the dumbest voter you know is that his money talks for him. It’s bad for his communities - Tech, West Texas, conservatives - that his money gives him a sense of permission to pretend Bo’s bigotry isn’t worth rejecting explicitly.
Election polling in Texas pretty routinely underestimates Republican turnout and the race will probably be close… but this stuff is pathetic. It’s so desperate. That’s a strong signal of fear if nothing else.
Texas Democratic Senate nominee James Talarico's viral hospital rumor has been debunked by time-stamped security footage reviewed by The New York Times — but the bigger story may be why his campaign sat on the evidence while the conspiracy theory exploded across social media for days.
Talarico disappeared from the campaign trail for nine days in early October, fueling rampant speculation that he had secretly traveled to an Ohio behavioral health center. His campaign maintained he was home with the flu, and security camera images from his Austin home now back that up. But GOP strategists and journalists are torching the campaign's response as "mind-numbing malpractice" for not releasing the footage sooner.
With Election Day just weeks away in one of the biggest Senate races in the country, the question has shifted from where Talarico was to why his team let the narrative spiral unchecked when they had the receipts the entire time.

Baylor and TCU fans should have plenty of fun, healthy trash talk. Keep it going. But both sides need to humble themselves about the Briles scandal. Y'all hired those dudes knowing full well what happened. Moral cowards on both sides like to pretend it all isn't a big deal
We don’t talk enough about this game:
A very vocal contingent of Baylor fans chose this game to openly support Art Briles months after the scandal broke, and TCU proceeded to march into Waco and hang 62 on the #17 team in the country. One of my favorite games ever.
If only there were any ancient Athenians who'd left us wisdom on the consequences of precisely this!
True as this is, Texas is also the most diverse state in the country. Great multicultural exposure in the cities. Mostly affordable. Has incredible food. At least 40% of the population votes for the sort of progressive politics outsiders assume doesn't exist here. The heat sucks.
I don’t think Briles is necessarily an evil man, but he is definitely full of shit and it is journalistic malpractice to baldly assert Baylor “exonerated” Briles (not true), and omit the statements of multiple investigations suggesting he was, at best, heinously negligent.
Art Briles sat down w/@On3 for his most extensive interview since Baylor - about the firing, the teams that rescinded offers, coaching in Italy & why he ended up at a D-II school in Portales, New Mexico w/a $2 million buyout

Nobody disputes that college football is broken, yet everyone now sees Texas Tech as the principal villain in a broken system. Next time ask @Cody64 to explain the gap between those facts in terms that aren’t cartoonishly self serving.
No fan in college sports is quite like Texas Tech's @CodyC64. Outside of Lubbock, he is often accused of trying to have his cake & eat it, too.
I asked him this.
His response as his alma mater navigates a PR war it can't win.

For anyone capable of critical thought, the song Megan demands Baylor's president swoop in and force others to play is by an artist who, as recently as last month, referred to himself as "black Hitler" and blames "Jews" for his losing custody of his kids. Hope this helps!

I dunno guys. There was this one time when Trump dropped a tape explaining how he sexually assaults women and he still won that election.
So I think the racist people who support Trump will still support him after he does some more racism.
The CBO study Vance is misrepresenting to "win" the point about immigration leading to higher rents also says a projected surge in immigration will add trillions of dollars to GDP and gov't revenues; an overwhelmingly positive net benefit to the economy.
Replying to @JDVance
Here are two more studies to go with it:
"Immigration inflows into a particular Metropolitan statistical area (MSA) is associated with increases in rents and with house prices in that MSA while also seeming to drive up rents and prices in neighboring MSAs."
sciencedirect.com/science/ar…
"The research literature has generally found that increases in immigration raise state and local governments’ spending—particularly on education, health care, and housing—more than their revenues.”

Arizona’s school voucher experiment has led to a budget meltdown. The state this year faced a $1.4 billion budget shortfall, much of which was a result of the new voucher spending.

What's with the constant right-wing postlib confusion of categories on family decision making? Rich grandparents can do what JD wants for obvious reasons. Poor ones cannot. Capital is the sorting mechanism, not the liberal security of rights.
NEW VANCE AUDIO: In an interview from 2020, JD Vance agrees with a podcast host who says having grandmothers help raise children is “the whole purpose of the postmenopausal female.”
He also agrees when the host says grandparents helping raise children is a "weird, unadvertised feature of marrying an Indian woman."
