In 2018, when I was drafted to run for mayor of Nashville, a framed copy of Micah 6:8 hung in my office:
“He has shown you, O man, what is good; And what does the Lord require of you But to do justly, To love mercy, And to walk humbly with your God?”
It still hangs in one of the bedrooms in my home.
This verse shapes how I think about power, service, and integrity—in public life and in private. True leadership isn’t about status or self-promotion; it’s about justice, mercy, humility before God. And dare I add: SERVICE?
What about you?
Does Micah 6:8 (or another passage) hold special significance in your life?
Share it below.

Few poems describe a gentleman's character better than Kipling's "If—," and few men read it better than Sir Michael Caine.
Have a great Friday.

One of the greatest responsibilities we have as coaches is understanding the influence we have on young people.
Nick Saban said it best:
“Leadership is all about helping someone for their benefit. If you’re helping them for your benefit, that’s manipulation.”
That’s a powerful reminder.
We all want to win. We all want our programs to be successful.
But coaching has never been just about what players can do for us.
It’s about what we can do for them.
The lessons we teach. The confidence we build. The standards we establish. The people we help them become.
Our success as coaches shouldn’t just be measured by what our players accomplish for us, but by who they become because of us.
That’s the responsibility.
And the privilege of coaching.

Early voting starts today in Tennessee, and it runs through October 29th! Please take this opportunity to do your homework on the candidates and the constitutional amendments on your ballot, then make your voice heard. Tennessee conservatives need to unify behind Senator Marsha Blackburn for governor. Review the candidate list at sos.tn.gov/elections/2026-ca… and the amendments at sos.tn.gov/elections/announc….

Tennesseans! Check this out
Tennessee’s November 3, 2026 ballot has three constitutional amendments. I’m voting YES on all three, and I encourage you to do the same.
Each appears as its own yes/no question. A yes vote adopts the change; a no vote leaves the current language in place. To pass, an amendment needs more yes votes than no votes, and more yes votes than half of all votes cast for governor.
1. Bail — vote YES
Courts could hold defendants without bail before trial for a capital offense, an act of terrorism, second-degree murder, aggravated rape of a child, aggravated rape, grave torture, or an offense that requires a convicted defendant to serve at least 85% of the sentence. A judge or magistrate would also have to state on the record the reasons for granting or denying bail in those cases.
2. No state property tax — vote YES
The General Assembly would be prohibited from levying, authorizing, or permitting a state tax on real, personal, or mixed property. Local property taxes are not affected.
3. Marsy’s Law (crime victims’ rights) — vote YES
Would replace Article I, Section 35 with stronger constitutional rights for crime victims, including fair treatment; notice of and participation in criminal and juvenile proceedings; participation in parole proceedings; protection from harassment and intimidation; notice of an offender’s release or escape; restitution; a speedy resolution; information on the minimum sentence and scheduled release date; and consideration of the safety of the victim, the victim’s family, and the public before certain release decisions.
Review the official questions, summaries, and full text on the Secretary of State’s site (GoVoteTN.gov or sos.tn.gov).
Early voting is October 14–29.
Election Day is November 3.
I’m voting YES on all three — please do the same.
