“It doesn’t take the cancer away, but it helps you through the journey.” Baillieston Councillor @Lalley4Labour was handing out roses to patients at the Beatson Cancer Centre in Glasgow today. It’s become a yearly tradition after he underwent treatment for prostate cancer at the same facility eight years ago. @Beatson_Charity staff say it’s a small gesture that makes a huge difference to patients attending the centre.

An 82-year-old from Bearsden living with cancer has built a yacht in his back garden to raise money for The Beatson. Passionate sailor Ian Rankin decked the boat out with Christmas lights and has been "overwhelmed" by the community response - raising more than £1,000 so far. 145 pupils and staff from St Aloysius' College are among participants taking part in Glasgow's Santa Dash. For the school, the festive 5k raising money for @Beatson_Charity has become a tradition - with huge turnouts over the last seven years. 11-year-olds Joe and Erin old us they're taking part after members of their family were diagnosed with cancer and treated at The Beatson.
