pretty clear evidence that republicans in the US losing any election going forward are going to always beg for a coup if they lose. lots of people will have to go to jail

Was in Denver last week and forgot how much the dog culture there overwhelms me. Your dog doesn’t need to be in this bar and I’d go as far to assume your dog doesn’t want to be in this bar. Leave him at home

I firmly believe we should embrace this take. Mamdani is the new political center, meaning anyone to his right is objectively a conservative—even The Atlantic agrees!

We should double property taxes for people over 65 to encourage downsizing and free up inventory for young families
“I’m old. I’ve paid my home off,” said Ray Warner, a 72-year-old Akron resident. “Why would I pay property tax?”
Across the country, homeowners are asking the same question and revolting against property taxes at a scale not seen in a half century.

If you’re a Mamdani booster, there’s nothing to be mad about here; if anything this helps cement his broad appeal as normal/relatable, vs “crazy” leftists.
If you’re a leftist antizionist, though, this is frustrating and disappointing. Not because they’re being unfair to Zohran or whatever—but because there’s still so many on the left who clearly have no theory of power or change beyond “petition those who have power.”
The archetype of The Radical that they hold in their minds—and which they seek to emulate—is the permanent outsider, the externalized (shaming, haranguing) conscience of those who can actually make decisions. Never the decision makers! Never the ones with power, but solely the beggar to power. Except the begging is disguised through performative hostility as if it were something else, a demand with real force behind it. But of course, there is no force, no leverage. It’s all kabuki—but the audience for the performance is, more than anyone, the performers themselves.
If you think Zohran is a genocidaire, I think that’s nonsense, but honestly that doesn’t bother me *nearly* as much as that *this* kind of empty gesture is your response to something as profoundly horrifying as genocide. Can’t you build something better, bigger, stronger? At the minimum, you could primary him from the left in 2029!
But if not, please come up with *something* other than these kinds of powerless acts of prostration, of begging, masquerading as demands. You can’t demand anything without power—if not electoral power, then find something else. But without power, it’s not a demand, but a plea. A whimper.

So this is what electing a democratic socialist mayor can get you: corporations issuing groveling apologies for underpaying their workers
Since 2023, more than 200,000 Dashers in New York City were underpaid or paid late under the City’s delivery worker pay rules. These errors were unintentional, but that doesn’t make them acceptable. Dashers should be paid in full, on time, every time. We take full responsibility, and we’re deeply sorry.
We’ve reached a $131.5 million settlement with the NYC Department of Consumer and Worker Protection. Every impacted Dasher will receive the amount they are owed, and they’ll be contacted directly with payment details.
We understand the impact of even one missed or late payment. We’ve addressed the issues that caused these errors and made changes to prevent them from happening again.

The City of New York asserts this was not a mistake.
“For years, DoorDash failed to count every hour worked by delivery workers,” Mayor Mamdani said. “This was not a rounding error or an accidental mistake.“

John Fetterman when sick children
This WSJ story on John Fetterman is wild especially on him blowing off a meeting with Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia who were concerned about Medicaid cards: “Behind closed doors, the first-term senator shows little interest in doing the job beyond cultivating relationships with conservative media figures and advocating for Israel.” wsj.com/politics/policy/john…

"Leffen is a top player in your game" might be the most insane roast possible by the fact it's totally valid as a slander.
The nastiest sickest people of all time love turning majors into super spreader events. My R2 opponent at Evo wet coughed directly into his hand and tried to give me a shake after our set. FF was a sniffling factory. People have to stay home it's fucking vidya games.
