So, Wildwood is terrific. A lot of old folks like me wish for the dark, quasi-traumatic family film of our youths. We don’t get them very often, but Wildwood fits the bill. High fantasy, real stakes, complicated characters, incredible animation. Long live Laika.

Pretty devastated to hear John Anderson passed away today. This guy was one of my all time favorites. One of the nicest people I have ever met and one of the coolest and most stylistic singers that has ever graced a microphone. I grew up listening to my dad’s vinyl John Anderson albums and learning to play guitar to them. I was fortunate enough to meet and even get to perform with him a few times over the years and I will forever be grateful. Thanks for the songs that were such a big part of my early years and for the influence you and they had on me and my music. Rest easy bud. 🙏🏼

We’re deeply saddened to hear of the passing of Loyd Price. A gifted animator, mentor and friend, Loyd dedicated more than 30 years to Aardman, inspiring and championing generations of animators along the way. We feel lucky and proud to have known him and our thoughts are with his whole family ❤️

The biggest evidence of Dolly Parton’s heart is the stories that people will never know: the quietly passed checks, secretly bought high school uniforms, delivered flowers, paid rents, and financed educations. How Dolly Parton's charity knew no bounds rollingstone.com/music/music…

Georges Seurat died at age 31, leaving behind only seven large-scale works. The result of pure obsession. A Sunday on La Grande Jatte: 2 years and over 2 million dots, placed one by one Look at the lady with a pet monkey, the man smoking a pipe, or the rigid soldiers. Seurat spent thousands of hours placing millions of microscopic dots, forcing your brain to do the work of blending them optically. His routine was brutal. Every single morning, he took the ferry to the island of La Grande Jatte, sketching in complete silence for hours. Every shadow is pure mathematics: red dots sitting next to green, violet beside yellow. He was so fanatical about controlling light that he even painted a border of colored dots around the edge of the canvas. He produced over 60 preliminary oil studies before the final canvas. In his tiny studio, the work was so huge he built a mechanical pulley system just to tilt it and reach the top corners. In 1924, the Art Institute of Chicago bought it for $24,000—a move local critics slammed as a complete waste of money. Today, the canvas is far too fragile ever to travel, making Chicago its permanent home.
