Naryn Kala, an ancient Sasanian Iranian citadel in Dagestan, Russia.
Its name is often translated from Middle Persian as “Sunny Fortress”. Other sources claim it actually honors a Persian shah’s daughter, Naryn, meaning “tender” or “beautiful.

The alphabet was invented once, in the ancient Levant, and nearly every literate culture since then has borrowed it, the Greeks and Romans included. If adopting a script made a people inferior, the argument would condemn almost everyone, and the Arabic script along with them.
